I think the steam pop-up should be moved to a different corner of the screen so that it does not block the buttons on the load in screen.

I thought there was an option in Steam to change the notification corner... lemme check around a bit.
Edit: Seems a few people note that you have to do some changes to a few Steam files to setup this sort of thing... if the game itself doesn't have an overriding value to set Steam to a corner. And apparently a few games are set to have the pop-up come in a different corner.

A pop-up in the middlebottom of the screen would be better.

Agreed, it's always been a huge pain in the backside for me, but...
TWI didn't create Steam, Valve did. It'd probably be better to suggest it on their forums instead.
I read somewhere that it defaults to the bottom right, but game developers can set the corner Steam runs the pop-ups in. So unless Valve adds new placements like the middle bottom (which would be probably the best place)... I'd suggest top right.
What they should have is a customisable overlay.

+1, I've disconnected from a server instead of pressing ready countless times due to steam pop-ups. Having it that corner is really annoying.

Yes, it is very annoying. Disconnected myself many times in the past and now it is catching up to me in TF2 again. Whats that? You want to see how much cloaking you have left for your spy? Well FU, a friend just logged on and now you have to stand in place just to be safe.
