steam error has prevented you from connecting to the server

any idea what this means? i get this whenever i try to connect to a server

also, sometimes, the black connecting screen will stay for about 5 mins, i give up on waiting, and i have to press f10 to cancel. its either this long waiting period and me giving up, or a long waiting period followed by that steam error sign

And you have tried the usual things such as deleting the ClientRegistry.blob file?

nope i havent. how do i do that? and what other regular checks are there?

The ClientRegistry.blob file is directly in the Steam folder. Delete this, but remember you will have to sign into Steam again (remember your password!) That almost always does it. The other i will have to look for later, I am tired and beat!
