about this, haven't bought game yet, and I don't have a joystick either so here are some questions... is it good with mouse and keyboard? does it support X360 pad? if it does, is it viable to play with it? or should I stick to the mouse and keyboard?... will I have to get a joystick in the end?

also planning on getting SH3 as I keep hearing so many good things about it, how does it play?

I haven't played it yet, but I'll tell you one thing: ANY flight sim with keyboard and mouse sucks my nuts. It's no fun whatsoever. You NEED an analog control for playing a flight game. Don't know if the Xbox will work for it, though ... never used one before. Actually, never played Xbox 360, either.

If his wiki page is correct, the guy's a huge dirtbag, knows it, and likes to shove it in your face. While he sucks completely, the real problem is all the customers who actually go out and buy all the crap he's promoting. Sigh.

Anyhoo, found my joystick for IL2, thought I sold it. Woooo!

Gift it to me and I'll review it for ya if you should buy it for PC or not :p Arrrghh I'm still agonizing over what to get. Think I'm gonna wait till tomorrows day sales.

if you already have it on ps3, then there is no reason to get it on pc. Theres more of an online community on ps3 than pc for some reason also.

you dont get anything extra for the pc version either if i recall correctly, plus its buggy and dodgy to set up and install.

the only plus side to the pc version over the ps3 version is that you have perfect aiming when blind firing. i completed the whole pc version story by just blind firing everyone pretty much lol.

Flight sims are awful with mouse/keyboards. I'd rather fly with the up/down keys than a mouse to.

Get a joystick, the Logitech 3D Pro goes for about $30 and believe me if you try to play a serious flight sim with mouse and keys you will be in trouble fast.

Hey joysticks are even good for some driving games so it would not be just for flight :)

X360 pad I dont know - it would be better than keys since its analog but a stick is what you need, definitely.

And to anyone still considering Braid: GET IT WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!! :p

Yeah, Braid is worth every discounted penny. I was playing it all night.. kinda stuck right now :p

Soooo, I decided to install Medieval II Total War and give it a run. Well, I started downloading the game at 10am this morning... it's now 4pm and I still have only 75% of it downloaded. They're drip feeding me the thing at around 300K a sec. Stop buying games people - it's screwing my download speed!

olol.

In the end I got

both Killing Floor DLCs
all Empire TW DLCs
Silent Hunter 3
Braid
IL2 1946
Audiosurf
Medieval 2 (yeah I know, I loved it and I felt bad for having it copied the whole time without buying, so I just saw the price and couldn't resist it =P)

total: 28€, pretty nice and varied pack =)

@REZ: tell me about it, I'm trying to install SH3 and this is taking forever... 4KB/s?. And I've just tried Braid and I can only agree about the awesomeness of this one.

Do people still play IL 1946 online? How good is the experience? Worth getting even with storm of war on the horizon? How good is the SP experience for that matter?

Also, this is totally random but I used to have a joystick I LOVED with yellow buttons (on typical black plastic). It was a thrust master but I can't find it on amazon. Any ideas?

On second thought, this looks pretty awesome, anyone own it? It says PS3 but does it work for PC too?

Found it for $30 too on buy.com so that's pretty effin cheap.

I don't know but I've thought about buying it years ago when I read someone saying that it is the RO of the flight sims

There are still some active online servers and some people still go for cooperative games aswell, but as for regular dogfight servers you might want to have some reservations as tad too often they are worse than playing Call of Duty deathmatch after smoking some crack.

The single player is ok, but you might want to get IL-2 DCG (by Paul Lowergrin) that adds basically the entire war from Fall Weiss to last days of Berlin as flyable theatres, combined with mod that improves AI greatly and it's quite enjoyable. It does support cooperative campaigns aswell in case if you can get few persons + voicecomms to mess with ;)

A few months back there were nightly 600 players playing IL-2, so online gaming is still huge considering it's a simulation.

That's the stick I just bought - from Amazon, as well - but it was from a different item number, apparently, because it said PC and PS3 on it. The one on Buy.com you have to pay tax and shipping on, so it increases the price pretty substantially. I bought the one from Amazon for the extra $1.88 or so because (A) I know Amazon and had never heard of the other company, (B) I'll buy out of state whenever possible (and pay more if needed) just to keep Kalifornia from getting its filthy paws on any more of my tax money than I can help, and (C) I also ordered a headset, so I got free shipping on everything through Amazon. :D
