Stats reset and bandages. What's the point?

Title says it all really. The game is still nothing but an SMG/assault rifle/semi-auto CoD spray and pray fest after this so called stats reset, so what was the point of it?

I beg to differ, I often play as a rifleman and am usually in the top-10 on the server(top-3 if I'm awake). There's a reason they put in a full cover system, /use it/. If you run and gun, you will die. Stat's reset has nothing to do with any of your points.

Second of all, bandages. I get shot, I have to bandage or I die within about 3 seconds. There's really no time to run to cover and then bandage, so you click bandage and then get shot again by whoever shot you the first time while you're bandaging.

Realism of the bandages aside, you should have been shooting from cover anyway, otherwise you deserve your deaths, and if you have been shooting from cover then I see no reason why it's hard to get to cover.

As for the realism, it doesn't take long at all for a gaping wound to incapacitate you. And if you'll notice the wounded body part is still wounded after bandaging and will not function as well as one that was never shot. All the bandaging does is stop the bleeding from killing you.

This game is ***, BF3 will be fantastic. I only regret ever spending my money on this pile of arcade CoD wannabe ****.

I do have a fetish for bolt-action rifles though, you're right. They're beautiful weapons, and the only ones in this game that you need to use with some skill to get kills with.


And BF want be a prey and spray arcade shooter ? BF is more like CoD than RO will ever be.RO has less prey and spray than any official release game out.Not having cross hairs firing from actually takes skill at all but the closest ranges.

I do agree tho too many automatics the bolts should be more numerous.
As for being a rifleman facing automatics sure you will be at a disadvantage clearing rooms or close quarters against smg's.You have to find locations that give you good line of sight where the bolt had the advantage.I play rifleman a lot and often can get in the top 3 on the score board.I do this by charging the caps and finding good spots to effectively deploy the bolt while in the cap.Many can do this

Sounds to me like your a run n gun player getting stuck with the bolt and getting mad because you can't run n gun with it.If I'm wrong you just need patients to learn how to properly employ the bolt.This can take a while to learn the good positions on each map and in each capzone where the patients comes in.

Normally I avoid these type of threads but if you love the bolt as much as you say ya do.You will miss it playing BF as its a run and gun fest.If you hate this game that much just don't play nothing wrong with liking BF but it is a arcade fps.

If you were playing the game the way it was designed, you would already be behind cover when you got shot, otherwise what do you expect?

Ah, so the cover runs in front of you to shield you as you run to an objective? :rolleyes:

I suppose the current state of SMG fest can't really be solved unless TW can manage to implement a convincing weapon selection system (one that allows everyone to switch class every now and then). Otherwise, if a bigger chunk of a server's playerbase was forced to play with bolties because they can't load maps fast enough as in RO1, they would be rightfully pissed.

That's just it ... the guys that get the AR's & SMG's, and their choice of team, every single round will fight to the death for their unfair advantage they get from an ultra-fast loading time. It's b.s. If half the team is going to get automatic weapons, it shouldn't be the same people every game just because of a random hardware advantage. Either use a timer to give everyone an equal chance, or just bite the bullet and let everyone choose his class like every other FPS. It's not like it's realistic anymore with all the autos, anyway.

That's not what I said, sure there are seconds where you will be running from cover to cover, but if you are sprinting there is little chance anyone will hit you, and if you've got some teammates covering you and check your corners first there really shouldn't be any enemies around to kill you. Once you're at your objective there isn't anything stopping you from staying behind cover and taking shots at the enemy. Anyone who doesn't realize this is playing the wrong game.

let everyone choose his class like every other FPS.
It's already like that in the "Firefight" gamemode. It's just that, I don't know, something like a system that lets assign a preference over a class in a pre-game preparation time, then assign it randomly to players (giving high-ranking and\or high-scoring players from the previous round a better chance of getting the weapon) would be ideal.

The first few games all 30 people on one team will assign preference to the sniper class and get slotted randomly, then they'll learn and start selecting something else they like or some class they feel they're going to do a good job with. Probably.

This is really getting annoying with all the comments about auto and semi-auto weapons. German - Engineer/Pioneer and Russian - Assault squads had nothing but semi and fully auto weapons. So can we shut up about that? The number of prototype weapons is unrealistic, but hey, it's a Steam game. Pay more money get more toys.

I didn't even know about the bandage system. You have to hit Left - Ctrl. after you are hit?

Could care less about stats, bandages, plethora of SMG's etc.... I still can take down a SMG just as easy with my bayo. I love it when I am facing a SMG, much easier to kill, especially at 50m +
