Can you use the UT2004 Static Meshes in KF? And if so do you just have to import it? Or is there some kind of process that ya have to go through?

Thanks in advance

As you're considering to bring in commercially released material from one game to another, I suggest you first look at Epic's policy on cross game transfers of material.

Epic have allowed the modding community a LOT of freedom with its content but I don't know how far that stretches to other developer's games using the same engine and editor function.

Let us know what you find out first before I publicly post any suggestions. :D

Ok, so after some searching I've been referred over to this:

http://www.epicgames.com/ut2k4_eula.html

So after some "lite":D reading, I think it's ok so long as We don't intend to make a profit out of it, but I could be wrong, as the document is fairly long, so I may have missed some bits of it (Feel Free to check it out tho)

So in the mean time I'm going to see if I can get a more direct answer from some1, unless any of you can pinpoint that it's fine to do this based on the above link/your own findings. I'll post back with any more info I find:)

What you read in the EULA was most likely just that they allow modders to use content from the game for their mods (modding the game!) as long as they don't make money with their mod. It's kind of obvious that they allow UT2004 modders to use UT2004 content for UT2004 mods.

Epic stated modders are allowed to port content from one Unreal game to another Unreal game.
E.g. use UT textures for an Unreal map, or use UT2004 StaticMeshes for a UT3 map.

Neither the EULA nor that arrangement with the community allows you to use their content in any other game!

But I have to ask, just to clarify, if anything specifically say's that your not allowed to use UT content anywhere else (nonprofit of course) (I know this may be a given, but I'm just curious)
As a friend of mine told me he knows how to get the content into the editor, so If there's nothing that can be done, then I guess I'll be keeping the my map between me n' my friends to avoid any issues
(or I just won't use the ut meshes, but that means I'm going to need more than a few custom meshes, but that's my own problem I guess)

But thanks for your comment none the less :)

Agreed. Use in any Epic franchise game is fine but not with non Epic software.

11. Editor and End-user Mods.

(b) Using UnrealEd, you may create modifications or enhancements to the Software, including the construction of new levels (collectively referred to as "Mods"), subject to the following restrictions:

i. Your Mods must only work with the full, registered copy of the Software, not independently or with any other software.

(c) We just LOVE the idea of you using and distributing content or script from any prior Epic Games, Unreal franchise game in Unreal Tournament 2004 Mod. Therefore we grant you a license to use content from any prior Epic Games Unreal franchise game in your Unreal Tournament 2004 Mods. For the sake of clarity you will not gain any ownership whatsoever in any Epic content or script nor can you use any Epic content outside the scope of the rights granted here. Any attempt to do so will bring about the wrath of our attorneys.
