When the game released, the DDE beta disappeared from my Steam library. Ok, no big deal, no need for it. But suddenly, I notice that my computer has been really sluggish, I hide the taskbar and find that I've been downloading the beta without being ASKED if I wanted to do so. I'm just saying it's nice to ASK before downloading 8 gigs on someone's computer, that's all.

I already PAID to be a "beta tester," they released the game after 13 days despite the game being riddled with bugs and horribly unstable, and Steam removed the beta from my computer. As far as I'm concerned, it would be appropriate to ASK people if they want to be beta testers for a game over 2-weeks post release, and to ASK before invading their computers with 8 gigs of possibly unwanted content and slowing down their machines and taking up all their bandwidth.
