I love tribes it's my favorite game so far.
I started really gaming when Starsiege:tribes was really popular in the 2000. I played all the tribes game and still go back to it once in a while and I always enjoy it...
Being able to fly and ski down hills to crazy speed always appealed to me but the lastest tribes game, vengeance was kinda of lame it didn't really use good physics and skiing was more like sliding meaning you didn't have any control over where you wanted to go when skiing and couldn't carve the hills like when you ski irl.
Now there's a new tribes game coming called Tribes:Ascend that will be f2p but I feel like it will fail since it really does not use at all the formula of tribes but instead try to be original. It seems to be a halo clone with a slight tribes flavors aka lot's of hit scan weapon instead of having to lead your target and the skiing seems bad but can't really say without playing it first.
Tribes:ascend beta should start soon since you can pre-order it and have early access to beta (lol really for a f2p game).
