I'd rather have it hard than brain-dead easy to be honest. Survival games, especially ones that have mutants and the paranormal need to be hard.
QFT. That's why I'm still struggling through Shadows of Chernobyl. I always play games on the hardest difficulty. I find it much more satisfying to play through, and challenges more rewarding.

Yay, my Clear Sky copy arrived today, so far its been pretty good, the faction combat seems to work pretty well and brings more life to the zone (though i can see why some reviews are calling it a bit clunky), and there are alot more sub missions for you to do, but mostly its the same gameplay as the original.

Suprisingly after reading some horror on how badly it performed ive only had one crash (and that was when loading a game for the first time) and the game runs almost perfectly on full DX 10 settings which is more than i could say for the original STALKER on high settings on my PC (quad @ 3.3GHz, ati 4780 512mb, 2gb ram on Vista x64 ), so it seems like its more friendly to multi core processors.

And heres a crappy quality screenshot of one of the new bases in cordon, with the sun behind clouds so theres no pretty sun effects.
Edit: dont know why that big wooded spool (or whatever you call them) is black, wasnt like that ingame

I love it when a company ****s up and doesn't decide to print the CD keys so they have to recall and delay the game for several weeks.

Thank god for the Russian version with English localization.

Was that the actualy case? I thought it was just US stores selling it a week earlier than they legally should have. Anyhoo go europe and the rest of the world with our cd key superiority :D

Also i thought the steam release was the same as US (the 15th?)?

Not overly positive reviews so far....I'm waiting until I've upgraded my computer before I go buying any new games :p

I'm not terribly inclined to put much stock in the reviews it has gotten so far, the ones i've read have a certain "well its an FPS-RPG, lets give the job to the guy who likes RPG's" feel to them, often comparing it to elements of WoW or Oblivion, and talking about how its combat is too hard..

I'm not terribly convinced they do a good job reflecting what people who actually liked Stalker will think of Stalker:CS.

But ultimately, i'll just have to play it before i comment any further on that.

Nope I know several people who have the game but no CD key.

As much as I like Steam it's pretty bad for Stalker. Certain mods will only work with certain versions and with a boxed version you can control that.

As far as the reviews look at SHOC. None too great but the game is pretty enjoyable when modded.

Help!

Well, there is one way you can cheat, and that's by modifying your favourite suit(s), but there's not really any cheats aside from that (i know there are some "trainers" for Stalker, but i recall reading they don't want to work with OL-mod).

The problem with this however, is that this works for all suits of the type you are modifying, including thouse worn by enemies, so you will really want to avoid popular ones.

My recommendation would be modifying the SEVA suit, its a good suit, and i don't think i have ever seen anyone wear it in the game, none of the factions seem to use it at all, so it should be safe to modify it.
If you dont have a SEVA, the scientist in Yantar sells it for 60.000, and it can be found in the wild territory for free in a stash (assuming you get the right stash info from a dead guy).

Anyway, Get your SEVA on, and go here:

..Stalker\gamedata\config\misc\outfit.ltx

Open that with Notepad or similar, and search for the following: [scientific_outfit]

That's the SEVA, now lets look at what we've got here:

Code:
; MEDIUM RESISTANCE
burn_protection                 = 0.8
strike_protection                 = 0.5
shock_protection                 = 0.9
wound_protection                = 0.5
radiation_protection             = 0.9
telepatic_protection             = 0.6
chemical_burn_protection         = 0.7
explosion_protection             = 0.5
fire_wound_protection              = 0.40

[sect_scientific_outfit_immunities]
burn_immunity                = 0.0025            ;

Thank you very much,

Now I am going to ask...

What the hell was that ending? I got the one where he asked for the Zone to dissapear and then his eyes turned all white.

Did it make him blind or something? And who else was disappointing by that ending?

Thats just one of many endings, and actually, its a "false" ending.

If you want to get a "real" ending...

Spoiler!

Of all the false endings, the blind one is one of my favorites.

I usually just get a lame one based on the fact I have ~200,000 rubles by the end of the game. Marked One asks to be rich and there's a slight trembling. Suddenly a bolt falls from the metal work above but in his eyes it's a gold coin and he catches it in his palm. The tremor grows more intense and soon whole beams and tiles begin to crash down. Marked One thinks its raining riches and he starts to twirl around wide-eyed, hardly believing his fortune. Then it all falls on him. The camera cuts to a wide shot and there's just a pile of rubble where he stood with a hand protruding out.

In the hand's palm, as we cut closer, we see the original bolt... just a bolt.
