If you upgrade the guns, are they actually accurate? As in accurate enough to play it and not wait for Complete Mod.

Pinpoint nearly cheating accurate. I don't know why people think Stalker's guns are so inaccurate anyway. Half my time in these games is spent clicking M1 every so often and getting a head shot for every movement of my finger.

Did you ever play the original STALKER unmodded? A scoped SVD kill at 100 meters was nearly impossible.

Not to mention, you can shoot someone in the eye with no protection with a rifle 3 or so times and they would still be alive.

By default, the weapons in CoP are usable.

Now I just need a mod to replace the horrible models and animations.

I'm with Reise. In fact, vanilla Shadow of Chernobyl was too easy, especially when you get the scope from the Duty member in the Dark Valley, after which headshots become a guarantee. In addition, health kits are plentiful, food and bandages increase health, and dangerous mutants such as the controller and bloodsuckers are scripted in areas and therefore predictable.

Wow this game is actually awesome! Didn't expect that. And finally side-missions are a) working b) scripted and not random fail like in the 1st game. I also like how it is extremly dark at night and you basically don't see anything without your flashlight turned on and even then it feels very uncomfortable. That's how it's supposed to be, and as a consequence I usually always go to bed around 18-19h so I don't have to do any missions at night :D

Yep. This is the most polished game out of the three. Added lots of things that were missing in unmodded stalkers and you got good guns right at the beginning. It only gets better later on.

Just finished the game, and it was awesome from beginning to the end. Definitely the best Stalker game out of all 3 imo. If I had to rate it I'd give 9/10.

Well it was a german news magazine so I figured most people wouldn't wanna read a german source and tbh I didn't bother searching for an english one.

As for the game, I've once read that they're working on it since Stalkers release, till 2012 that makes 5 years of development = sounds fine to me.

Multiplatform will be interesting to see as it'll be their first multiplatform title. While the first 3 stalkers were very pc-esque(inventar etc) it must not mean that the new game will be crap, many good multiplatform titles out there(for example Dragon Age, and let's face it there are hardly any pc-exclusives left). The new engine will also play a big factor I think.

TBH alot of the multiplatform games theyve been releasing this past year haven't been that consoleish so if that trend keeps up of course I don't care what platforms its on. BC2 and Mafia 2 for example have great graphics, are well optimized, and have most of the standard pc settings we have come to expect. As far as 2012, I'd be surprised if it was earlier it just seems so far away. Can't wait to see the new engine.

I have one reason to worry with STALKER, just look at all the keybinds it has used in the last 3 games, it's something like 31 at the minimum if you want to use all it's usefull features (not counting MP speficig ones or the WASD keys, as the left thumbstick would replace thouse), how do you make that work with a controller? or will they strip out many features like changing weapon modes, leaning, low-crouch and the like?

New game, new engine, it will be designed differently. Tbh I never used low-crouch except when I had to(which was like twice maybe to access a stash). Neither did I ever change weapon mode because you can just as well fire only 1 bullet at a time in full auto. Leaning was important of course, hopefully they'll keep that. The keybind for stuff like radiation drugs and food were pretty unneccessary as well(radiation was annoying because if you just went past a car for 1sec you'd already have to use one, and food was simply unnecessary in the way the presented it, like wow every 8h you need to eat bread or a sausage ).

But I don't think it makes sense to see how Stalker would port over to console controls because I think it'll be a completely new experience with a new engine and multiplatform kept in mind. We'll see how it turns out. Maybe it won't be as bug-ridden for once(though CoP was nice).

I don't want a "new experiance" that has less goodies than the old ones, i want bigger and better, not less..

Steam is having a Halloween 75% sale for Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat bundle ($9.99!). Unfortunately Clear sky is separate (also $9.99). Just snagged all three games for less than $20.

BTW estimated DL time is 2 days 7 hours at 64kb :p.
