Stalingrad battle - 3D Mamaev Kurgan B&W Preview

As some of you may know, I have been working on a 3D model of the city of Stalingrad as it appeared in the fall of 1942. With the aid of numerous museums, archives, and private collectors from Russia, Germany, and the USA this project is all coming together.

This model is true 1/1 scale and the topography was created with 2-foot contour lines from maps of Stalingrad from the 1930

Excellent stuff Russ, all the years of research are going to bear fruit soon? Please let us know as soon as this project you are working on is ready for release.

Just a couple of questions: what were the storage tanks on the top of the Kurgan? and what kind of buildings were those in the clusters at the Eastern and South-eastern foot? Any references to those? The SE lot look like they might be residential but the Eastern ones look a bit too cut off from the rest of the city to be residential.

Many thanks! Crazy? fanatic?

Many thanks! Crazy? fanatic?

Many thanks. I still have a lot of work to do on it, plus the colorization of the photo, which is 15-20 hour task in itself.

I have two different maps that have both areas label as workers settlements. If you look closely on the back side of Mamaev Kurgan, you can see where the ground has been disturbed to lay the lines for the water tanks.

Crazy? A very good possibly! Fanatic? Signs seem to point to yes!

Very nice I like the site. Would it be at all possible to get some of those tanks in game? I am really fond of this on s.I.G. (Sturminfanteriegesch
