I quite like the new Squad system but the loadout of the squads are not that realistic to me. Take note I know nothing about Russian loadouts and I only have limited knowloadge on German loadouts so I will get Todsky who knows a lot more than me to look at the thread.

Also if someone who knows more about Russian Squads maybe they could talk about them here.

Here is the Squad loadout in RO2
Spoiler!

A real German Gruppe is 10 people so RO2 has that which is good.

What seems to be wrong with the loadout of some of the squads. Every squad should have a MG. As you can see in the squads theres squads with only riflemen and some with mostly Anti tank. The main source of a German gruppes rate of fire is the MG. The whole gruppe would not work without the MG.

What I think also should happen is that the Riflemen, Engineer and Assault class should all be one spot. If you know what I mean. Basically these 3 classes should join any of the "Riflemen" spots above and there shouldn't be separate spots for the Engineer and Assault.

I also think the number of Squads needs to be lowered. If the biggest number of people on one team is 32 with 10 people in each squad the most squads should be 3. So that's 3 Squad Leaders and 3 MGs (Of course this is the server is full). Also maybe make it that there is one anti tank class for each squad.

Also I really think the Engineer class should get a choice for his primary weapon. He should be able to chose between a Rfile or SMG.

The discrepancies are not in the German Gruppe alone:

The Russian Infantry Platoon, 1942.

Tripwire got the Squad sizes correct and did an admirable job with the Platoon compositions, however I noticed that for w/e reason the 3rd squads lack MGs and the SLs smokes. This is incorrect. Both the German Gruppe and the Russian Squad had 8-10 men with a 2 man MG team. As you can see the Russians by 1942 had fielded enough SMGs to have entire squads, companies and sometimes even battalions equipped with PPSh41s.

Regardless, the German Gruppe on average should be 1 GruppenFhr, 5 Schutzen (k98s), a 2 man Machinengewher Trupp and a handful of Stosstruppen.

To my knowledge, I think every map only has 3 squads per team. Its part of the reason why I closed recruitment in my unit at 3 fulls quads instead of 4 - Gameplay restrictions.

The squad loadouts should be changed, but you have to keep in mind class limits and gamemodes.

Back in 1942 when there were the 10 man groups in the German platoon, they were usually in this sort of format.

Group leader
MG
MG-assistant
Ammunition carrier
Ammunition carrier / Assault troop (Either, depending on what the group preferred)
Assault troop
Assault troop
Assault troop
Assault troop
Troop leader (Second in command)
