Squad leader spawning needs some changes

How it currently works (as far as I know):

If the squad leader is in cover (no enemies can see him) you can spawn on him. You spawn at the nearest available player start (which I guess is unreal terminology for spawn point) to him. The game does not take into account how vulnerable the player start is to enemy fire, you could spawn right in-front of a tank.

How (I think) it should work:

The squad leader is always valid to spawn on, regardless of his cover. However, player starts are checked to make sure they are hidden from the enemy before you spawn on them. If no valid cover is nearby, you can't spawn.

Basically the current model means that a squad leader can be inside a building hiding in a corner and the game can spawn you outside that building in front of three enemy assault troops because the squad leader was hidden but the player start wasn't. In my suggested model, it wouldn't matter if the squad leader was a little exposed all that would matter is that there is a hidden spawn point nearby to materialise from. You'd never witness an enemy popping into the game.

Yeah, I never know if I'm going to spawn on my squad leader or have to walk for five minutes, it really needs to be tweaked to not be so frustrating.

Remove spawn on SL entirely...

...give the SL an on-screen timer for each respawn round, and whether or not people in his squad are waiting, so that he knows when to fall back a bit into a viable spot (as far as he can tell, anyway). I don't think the system needs much more doing to it than that (other than slightly more intelligent spawn point selection to prevent someone appearing in the open as a sitting duck for 2 seconds). As an SL if a squad member warns me via VoIP I do try to fall back to a spawnable location.

It seems like the game doesn't understand how to spawn players at player starts intelligently.

Several times on Barracks, when my squad leader was either in the Political School or the Infirmary.....it spawned me in the middle of the street between the two buildings. It's a complete and total death sentence.

Now, I don't know for a fact that there's a player start location in the middle of the street...but the game honestly should be able to go "Hrmmmm.....that doesn't seem like a good spot when one team controls Infirmary and the other controls the Political School."

Yet it doesn't. Early on in game spawning on squad leader hardly seemed to work. Now it seems to work fine, but it dumps you in the worst possible places. It's getting to the point where I'm afraid to spawn on squad leader when they're at the front line because there's a 50/50 chance I'm going to end up giving someone a free kill.
