Love splat server :D As Russian, once you have capped west and east put it on the road to the right of central, to help block off german renforcements. I can't say I've played this map as German, but as Germans if the allies are trying to cap east it should go on the closest corner of the east farmhouse (seen from the Russian point of view). Hope you can decipher this all

Pls use left and right as in shown on the map. Aka left is west and right is east.
I think I see your point kar98. ; ) Good tips, thx. Any more guys

as axis i usually race up the northern side of central farm in the little lookout post with the radio. Look through the window and click on the fog next to the tree on the left. Open my map and if its slightly under and to the right of the building you see in the upper map and along the blue river line, call in arty.
If they can't take the farmhouse or lose it, you'll get a couple of reinforcements offguard and force them to go a long way around.

in order to protect the other farm to the left of your map you need to hussle your way over there. Go outside over the little hill when facing the upper center of your map and in that small 'valley' you call in arty. You always have ****ers who run straight to that farm and end up without stamina, getting caught in arty, so forcing them around it with little or no stamina will save you alot of time =)

Throwing smoke on your arty target helps, enemy thinks its for their own safety to run through untill they get an arty shell to the head =)

what you do is you spawn as the russian commander set the arty on your spawn and change teams...

only kidding

But it does help, if you can get it right as german commander to hit the most used exit direction of their spawn. So if they've capped east first and most pressure is on the west farm house attempt to shell the right exit of their spawn.

That smoke tactic is genious!

German Arty on Hedge Hog

German Arty on Hedge Hog

The
The problem with using arty from the German side on Hedge Hog is that the map is very wide and the worst thing one can do is place arty on a spot that is currently occupied by either infantry or a tank because they will most likely move before the first salvo gets there.

In this case German artillery is most effective not for killing the Russians but for dictating their axis of advance.

1) Do not use any arty until the Russians cap either the East (right) or West (left) Farmhouse. The reason is simple, which ever one they cap first is permanently theirs, the Germans can not cap it back, therefore the Russians will not go back there unless they are dumb and an arty placement on that side of the map would be useless.

2) Place the arty somewhere along the river (running East/West) on the German side of the bank but not on the bridge (hardly anyone uses it). This placement is not designed to kill the Russians but to force them to move around it funneling them in the direction of one of the two remaining objectives. This effectively "shrinks" the map and makes it much easier to defend.

3) Call the first two strikes in the same spot, then move it in such a way that forces them to shift their assault to the objective that was previously cut off. This will cut off reinforcements to the one that they have been attacking and allow you to effectively defend both objectives from in between them with the artillery defending your flank!

-) This tactic forces the Russians to attack your defenders on a parallel axis rather than a perpendicular one, unless they want to take the long walk around to attack the Central Farmhouse, in which case you, as squad leader accompanied by an MG and at least one PAK trooper should be able to discourage them by picking them off one at a time, they will become impatient and go back to the shortest distance attack where you can butcher them at will!

Hope this helps.

I played one of TWB's 50 slots servers some time ago: I tell everyone to attack western farmhouse...We got it pretty fast.

I placed arty on southern part of Eastern farmhouse and tell ppl to stay north in capzone. Those arty strikes killed lots of germans. After some fierce fighting and capping / recapping, we manage to clear it out.

I then placed arty between Central farmhouse and german spawn. (close to Farmhouse). That arty didnt kill many, but prolly delayed reinforcements a bit. After some mad charges with full UC's we capped central with a few minutes left on the clock.

The story pretty much repeated it self the second round. My team was happy and I had the highest score on the server.
(I was tank commander btw. Luckily our noob Squad Leader agreed to stay away from the radio)

Very Nice!

Very Nice!

That is exactly how to play the Ruskies! I don't do it often because I do so love to be the tank commander (because ya get real nades, call arty and can use a tank ... talk about the universal soldier) but I can't stand the Russian T60 ... personal preference. Usually I go assault trooper if I play Russian on that map but being the German tank commander is my first choice ... sounds like you got this thing all figured out, you should stop into the {sn][per}Group server some time and we'll go head to head:D ... that is where I can be found most of the time. Good Luck!

I did not touch the T-60 at all. Our tanker did okay alone. I acted as a commanding, arty calling, assault trooper.
Commands was: Get in the capzone or get in the UC.
I died a lot, but killing me just meant a new lethal arty strike. :D

I was thinking that the arty on eastern farm maybe should be directly south instead of on the house. Less kills for me,(and TK's) but maybe easyer to clear the capzone. Or maybe not, their sniper was very good and my arty pretty much denied him access to the roof.

I would guess that sniperGroup server is in the US. Since I havent played it.

Yeah, it is on the east coast somewhere, there is never an admin and there are a lot of high quality regular players, occasionally there will be some jerks and spawnkillers but it doesn't happen often enough to make me play anywhere else. If your ping is under 250 you should do it, there is a regular from Venezuala that plays all the time and his ping is only 300, it doesn't slow him down either ... he is a great sniper.

I'll put in a second recommendation for the Sniper Group server. Great bunch of people, usually. There's one or two that'll come on now and then that are attention whores or whatever, and just dicks, but that's not often.

That's the only server I play on, unless I've got a hankering for Arad action, or if the 181st TB server is playing Berezina.
