Source Engine to Unreal Engine 2... Where To Start?

I don't have a clue where to start, I want to convert a team fortress 2 map to killing floor. Once I get it converted it should be easy enough to add spawn points etc, but I don't know how to convert it. They both use bsp iirc but I doubt the maps are built the same way.

If hammer could compile for ut2004 (and such) that would be awesome -.-

no, uted is littereally the exact opposite of hammer. Start out with the bvasic tut's and go from there.

But to answer your Q, you will need to build everything from scratch if you are wanting a hl/hl2 map in ut

I didn't even make the map, I just wanted to port it -.-

The geometry of pretty much any map is very easy to remake in any engine / form, as long as you pace it and break it up into pieces. Just don't look at it as a mammoth task (which is isn't) and you'll have it done in no time.

Having said that, theres pretty much always a way to port geometry. I've never gone source to unreal before, so there could be a direct way but I'm not sure, someone else should be able to answer that. If not, just go the obvious route of export > convert > (maybe convert again) > import.

Have both editors up at the same time, use your grids as reference and with a bit of concentration and a few weekend hours... sorted.

the best thing is is to draw the map in topdown view just with pencil and paper. or a program like illustrator. you'l the have the scale of the map and then its easier to recreate the geometry. i might help you if you would like

i sometimes create DM maps for UT series. when i have an idea i always draw it on paper to not make mistakes in the scaling. like i did before

Mariokart would be a sick map in KF :p

You could remake it quite easily tho, its just otherthings like the mario pipe's and the jet launcher + cars would be hard
