Well I know these are common bugs, but I really need to ask people;

Is it like this?

My system acts like it's over-heating when this happens, despite CPU temps being in the 40's, and GPU Temps being in the 60's. No other game has this problem, it's very odd, and it makes me worried about playing the game.

Sometimes, at random, when going into ironsights, or sprinting, the sound stretches and stutters, and FPS hits rock bottom. All my other games run fine, even more intense games.

Q6600 @ 3.3GHZ(P95'ed and stable)
GTX470(Slight OC)
4GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Plenty of HDD space.

Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-E Fatality(Latest, most stable custom drivers)

Like I said, this is the only game I have this issue in. I have other UE3 Engine games that don't have this problem, either.

Does it for me sometimes too, just for a second. I can ignore it pretty comfortably.
Only started with latest patch.

Not completely sure - but I wonder if this is infact a punkbuster thing. I seem to recall in the past similar things happening on COD4 when PB was doing a check.

I will have to have a looksee to try and find some old posts about it and see if there was ever a fix

edit - a quick look found this

Go to your console and type "/pb_sleep 500"

gonna give it a try to see - not even sure if the command is available in RO2.

edit 2 - tried it and am not sure it did anything? pb_sleep is not onthe list of console commands

Try playing on a non PB server for a while, mine switched to PB recently so it could be that.

Thing is - PB server or not - if your game is PB enabled it should check regardless of server. The only difference is that a non PB server will not kick you for not having PB installed. (I think - lol) The only way to see if no PB would fix it, is to remove PB completely (and this is not as straight forward as it could be)

However I have just played all morning with PB_SLEEP 500 and my "feeling" was that the stutters are less frequent, but still occur. This is completely untested for accuracy so next session I will get my stopwatch out and actually time the gaps, and run with standard settings and sleep 500.

PS. There is also another command that apparently puts PB into a less system hungry mode PB_SYSTEM 1. (its all on the evenbalance website) so this will be my next port of call.

PPS. On the evenbalance website they actually accept that PB can cause exactly this "chugging" problem so it seems to me likely that this is the cuplrit. Just about half way down on the PB FAQ here

There are also a few other possible "fixes" listed
