sound card advice

This morning I said to myself "sexy, ya been working hard, take the day off and go buy a sound card."

Iv'e been using onboard sound and want to know if I should and what would be a good card to work good with ROOST. Any suggestions guys?

Waste of money and king of hype. Yes, I went and bought it in one dark, rainy day and it didn't improve anything. Take day off, go and buy icecream with that money.

Except when you have a card that encodes everything into dolbly digital or DTS in real time and sends it to your home theater receiver via optical S/PDIF.

That's what ****s. Not only do you have to spend money on the sound card, but you have to get a totally new sound system to take advantage of it. *sigh* If only I had tons of money.

lol yeah i know. Its part of the defaut forum software though and would probably be a hassle to get rid of all the unneccesary filters.

Well the sound system thing works for me because I had mine long before the gaming rig. It is definitely the way to go for others in the same situation.

In your case the X-fi is a solid choice. Go for it.
