Yes that is what i guessed, but your position to the shooter, or being the shooter is more important than the actual round. Without ear protection (Don't try that at home, or actually don't try it at all) weapon sounds and your location relative to the shooter are quite different to what a movie shows and what you would expect.

Considering that in warzone it's rather unlikely someone is wearing some ear protection, most of the sounds can become very odd compared to any recording or other situation when taking all potential **** into account that's probably going to make your ears ring.

Also, position of your head can have interesting effects how it truly sounds like. Try listening something while bending your head backwards, then do it same while bending it forward and compare that how your head normally would be with headphones on E.G.

Actually there were ear plugs for tankers. So maybe tankers wont get as much of sound concussion from the main gun firing instead of infantry being close to the main gun.

And if a tank is under small-arms fire for some unknown reason (let's say infantry moving behind a tank and attempting to shoot those) it's quite much of a plingplong inside the vehicle besides the loud volume of engines, tracks and such.

I suggest that they add that you have permanent ear ringing 90% of time and that half of the the sound volume varies abit for extra realism :p

Just seen the "Gameplay Enchantments Walk-through" video and It seems that this area has not been addressed.

There is no bullet cracks.

Gunshots sound weak. Instead of sounding like sharp and powerful "pop's" they sound meager.

Mg-34 sounds like an eggbeater. Where is that mighty rumble? With every trigger squeeze sound should sound like the hell is unleashed upon the unlucky target.

I hope BFBC2 sound effects get added in as-well.

Yeah, I hope the sounds will be amazing since audio-side is so important in games.

There's only two senses in games, sight and sound, and sound is more important from those two, it's sad that usually sounds are way too underrated, a game with "bad" graphics and great sound is better than a game with great graphics and bad sound.

I agree with OP. Sound in games adds to immersion HUGELY. I hate alot of games where the weapons sound almost cartoony. I love loud realistic environments where u actualy feel like your under heavy fire.

In regards to hearing sounds from far across the battlefield, i remember when DOD: Source came out and u could hear real battles going on close and far away. The sounds were more muffled and distant when far away and louder when closer. If they havent already, they should DEFINATLEY impliment this.

I know these are blanks, but the sound should be similar to real ammo:
Vid-Went-Here.

That's a very strange PPSh, 9mm convert or repro? German build MP-41(R) maybe?

The ejection port is opened up to the side (haven't seen that on any Soviet build ones), and it seems he can use MP-40 mags in it with a simple magwell adapter.

I can't speak for WW2 tanks, but when I was a crewman on M1A1's I was very surprised at how "quiet" the main gun was when it went off. Sure it made a big bang but most of the noise was the sound of the breech operating and then the ring of an aft-cap hitting the deflector, followed by a thud when it hit the turret floor. Even in the loader's seat it wasn't all that deafening. And I wore a tanker's helmet only; no ear plugs.

The tracks made a ton of noise, though and crunched, squeeked and groaned like a mofo. I'd like to hear more of these sounds in RO2. Just listen to the ambient tank sounds on the RO:OST map: Gorlitz. Freakin' awesome!

How about random, ambient desertion taunts. I just got finished reading Anthony Beevor's book on Stalingrad and he noted that there were plenty of instances where soldiers would call out to the other side to surrender/defect with promises of food and the like. Silly, but immersive.

what happened to the viking sound guy from the mod days? is he still around?

i guess since twi is recording sounds off the real deal and sound has already been an important focus of the mod days and the retail days of ostfront, they will try their best to improve this part of the game, as well. wasn't that their premise? to do everything better than it was in the first game? since they know that there is sound and more so, that it is important, i wouldn't be surprised if they surprised us with something awesome (hah)!

One important difference here would be that almost all new tanks are lined with cevlar to reduce spalling. Now, would that possible serve as a sound insulator? IE. reducing the reflection and transmission of sounds from both the inside and outside.

Agreed with the OP on all points. I especially want them rifles to have a loud pop! In Darkest Hour I was disapointed in the firing sound the Springfield 03A4 sniper rifle had - it was like a dull boom...

I like the video of the MP40 posted on page 1,though some claim that audio is not the best in the video, that MP40 just sounds awesome,A sound like that would sound so bad a** in a game,I love the echo!!!!!!!!!! I hope we will get similar in HOS

A bit different than the sounds in RO at least. Its time for a change!

so lemmie get this straight? You want sounds recorded on a camcorder over sounds recorded mostly from the real firearms themselves with high quality gear. Which is how the majority of most of the weapon sounds for ROHOS have been captured ( with the exception of the AT rifle, for which another rifle was subbed in due to technical malfunctions. )

ANY RO OST sounds you hear in the videos of HOS are place holders.
