Soo... guess we're done welding now?

Indeed, same with bulletproof glass. Wreck the frame!

Like I said before, I personally think the biggest problem is getting other players killed with your welds. I've only put a couple of door trap welds up online and they always get unwelded by someone stuck on the other side!

I think the most effective way to utilize welding is to weld a bunch of doors as soon as someone spots double FP + scrakes and before the team groups up to kill them.

We will see whether pubs are able to adapt this strategy over the next couple of years... I wouldn't bet any money on it though ;)

You have just given me a genius idea, considering I play pubs 98% of the time.

My support is level 23 at the moment, that's a fast enough weld...Could quickly block the team's exit off when a big'un shows up, so then they all have to kill it instead of scattering and being hunted down by it!

This is actually good metagaming if you're playing support and know your team has ammo and weapons capable of quickly and sloppily dispatching it.

So what is it useful for then?

That's not rhetorical I'm looking for ideas

its not.

in kf1 welding a door would cause the zeds to take a detour around the door. it could be used way more strategic then to just "block a path"

in kf2, doors are WAAAY too low on health, and even if a door is welded, they still break. so whats the ****ing point.

Lol, even if your intentions are good and the team survives I'm anticipating a vote kick to be passed. :D:D:D

Catacombs solo

Catacombs solo

There is one spot in Catacombs where welding a door forces a single funnel + Slow spawn thus making it a very doable solo no-kite camp for COM players. I'm sure there are other locations like this, we just haven't explored them well enough.

Yep this sometimes works for me but on most occasions zeds go on a detour... RIGHT THROUGH that door I've just welded - leaving all other paths empty until it breaks.

You know what would make me weld doors all day no matter how fragile they are? If I was able to shoot through them like in L4D!

1.) Most players aren't skilled enough to double tap 4 to produce the welder.

2.) Hold E to weld door takes too long when in active pursuit by sprinting zeds.

3.) Most players don't have enough time to weld a door.

4.) Nobody welds doors.

I hate to say this, but a this point a great game is basically suffering because the players are not skilled enough to actually play it.

This is why nobody welds doors in KF2.

Because they don't have LGS.

Honestly I think the second healthbar should be done away with completely.

But your idea sounds good too.

The main problem is that the doors (and even the welds) barely last at all.
Totally pro the idea of removing the 2nd non-weld health bar. Door permadeath is great but the trade-off of having a support maintain a couple of welds instead of fighting is not worth it if the doors will just break after a period of time anyway.

Going against the masses it seems...

Going against the masses it seems...

I've been welding ever since I have started playing KF2. I have no experience with KF1 nor have I been actively seeking more skilled and strategic players. First off I leveled my support to like 8 or 10 while playing the commando class just welding while playing. It's free exp that can be earned instead of running around the map.
When used strategically you can effectively control the flow of incomming zeds. Especially during the beginning rounds, which in turn uses less ammo and armor. I have also noticed I can go to round 10 solo on hard by myself, more often than I can within a group.
You can weld a door(s) depending on the map, kill the newly spawned wave behind you, then unweld the door, throw a grenade, turn and do another group or manage another door.
If people actually worked together you could effectively keep most doors viable into the later rounds as well as control the incomming zeds. Keep in mind that you have to unweld the door completely for it not to be destroyed.

A possible reason for welding?

I agree. I would either like to see welding made useful again (the only map it is useful in is burning paris) as in the last game or just take it out. Without it being useful it's just a nuisance especially with random people welding doors (not realizing the problems they are creating) or just people trolling.
