Something Weird Going ON

Can play internet game during the day but not in the evening. Then Ok after midnight. for the last 4 evenings I have not been able to play MP as the internet button on top right is not highlighted.

What is going on
Anyone help please

Ok, how do I check if I am launching Steam in online or offline mode?
I use Steam.exe and it logs in but in the game I also have the two rightmost buttons transparent and inactive.

I must say the level of complication of Steam beats everything I have seen so far...

I start using Steam.exe and have the same problem all the time. Steam says it's logging in etc. Everything seems fine.

I can join the servers from favourites and play but cannot access the browser.

How do I check in which mode I run Steam? I just launch Steam.exe and it says it connected to my account.

Done this but internet button still greyed out. It seems to be blocking me out every evening between 6pm to midnight.

Why is this?

This is odd. I can totally guarantee you that we/RO/tripwire/themasterservers do not change anything during the day. It should work no matter what time it is.

I would guess your internet provider is doing some funky stuff during the evening, maybe blocking/throtteling ports?

Some routers have parental controls which limit the access during certain hours. Maybe you enabled that by accident?

My guess is that your ISP is blocking access to the computer which holds the master list, during the evening, as they consider it peak time. I have the same problem with mine (Tiscali). It also applies to any ISP which is a subsidiary of Tiscali.

The workaround is to log on at an off-peak time (eg. before you go to work), get the master server list and add every server on it to your favourites list. This is a bit of a clickfest, but once done you will then be able to connect to a server directly without the need to query the master list.

Found the problem

Found the problem

Its a file called SDK beta which can be downloaded from this site. Removed it and now Ok. There is a list of fixes somehere but not easy to find and should be more accessable to those with problems.

A few days ago I downloaded SDK Beta from this site, so last night around 10.30 I still could not get the News Server. Removed the SDK Beta and It worked Ok - great. There is a list of fixes somwhere on the site somwhere near page 22 but hard to find. This would solve most of the problems experienced by players, so wht is it not more accessable.

Ive been playing on and off during the day with no problem. Now 5.20pm and the Internet button is greyed out. A good game ruined by this - and reading the threads lots of others have this problem.

Yes My ISP is Tiscali So it seems that the best way is to add to favourites. Dont have this with other online games though like COD 4 so why this game I wonder.

For me the News page comes up instantly, but the Internet tab is greyed out. It comes up too after 3-4 mins. This is in Lithuania and not during peak time.
