Its a great idea of TWI's to step up and provide a server for the community mappers and thereby ensure their maps are always available to play and for new versions to be available to test.

If mappers want to get involved with this server just contact Sajer and he will help you all he can..

I'll be honest, I have always had an exceptional experience playing and testing the latest up to date custom maps on the RGN custom server. I believe most if not all the mappers have appreciated RGN for doing so, and they have a super fast redirect and I believe many of the players there are more than willing to offer feedback.

I'm certainly not against TWI running a server for this (probably more than a year later than they should have created one), but honestly, why would I want to change from RGN considering they have a quality run server (as stated in first paragraph) and I know the quality of players and I won't have to put up with the BS griefers?

I don't mind vote-based map changes, but such a system absolutely NEEDS the restriction of the previous, say, 3 maps not being selectable for vote. Saw this all the time in RO and DH.

use the RGN custom server when it's populated. no map plays twice. no voting. the maps rotate in alphabetical order and if mikes around, he can switch to any map the majority feels like playing.

RNG has been the go-to place for trying new custom maps for so long now.

But by the way, a really strange thing happened ... I was looking for the Crucible server in the server list, and somehow couldnt find it. Then the next day, I went to my Favourits list and there it was ... is it posible for the game to stick a server in a fav list? Hmm, or maybe I had a TWI server faved and that one turned into the Crucible...

Indeed. I rarely last more than a couple of maps on "vote-able" servers, players choose the same 3 maps over and over and over.....

Totally agree with what has been said about the RGN Custom Map Server. Fast re-directs, great players and an always entertaining host who keeps the s***bags in line.

That being said I'm also happy that there will now be another server promoting custom maps.

I think the intent here is to suppliment any custom map support already in place. I personally feel that custom maps and the folks that create them should be supported by as many sources as possible. It's simply reinforcing a good concept.
