Guys can anyone test this. Turn occlusion quality from normal to high. For me high gets much better performance than normal.

If it was just me, I didn't loose my time making a single player in this game, I would put all the effort to have a nearly perfect playabalities at the release in multiplayer. I tried in single player and it remember me playing old battlefield 1942 with bots in multiplayer maps, just not fun. having the option to put bots in multiplayer/lan do the same job.

u half texture sizes so it eat less ram, but ur eye cant notice the difference, trust me its a well known fix for ram problems in UE3 games... and yes UE3 is a bad engine, idTech is much better long live Quake^^

~edit~

you make bumpmaps and specular smaller also if u know

Didn't see much of a difference...............

Oh, don't argue. You know full well no one means the budget cards from each new generation.

People with a 580 shouldn't be seeing less performance than a a radeon 4800. This is just a simple fact.

I first tried the beta on a 4890, disappointed I went out and got a 6870, a bit better yeah but then the two patches hit. In frustration I went out and grabbed a 570, no difference. Now that the full game is here I went back from the 570 to my old 4890 and... it's basically the same. Medium on a 4890 is about identical to medium on a 570, that's insane.

I'm not going to dig in .ini files and upload logs because my job is QC, I'm not going to come home and do the same thing I do at work.

I swear though, somehow, I don't know how I feel like my 4890 is actually more playable with slightly lower FPS than my 570 was, I no longer get unplayable artillery stutter. And I guess I'm glad, saves me $300.

Thanks for the advice, ticking off framerate smoothing made me get from 30-60 to 60-95 fps

Anyways i still have a HUGE freeze problem, that happens 100% time after 1 to 5 min of playing. Sound and image freeze, and i have to manually reboot the PC. No particular event in the game seems to be the cause of this.
The only solution i found is to play in windowed mode  which is for the least... frustrating.
My cfg is i7 2600K@3,4GHz, 6Gb RAM, HD6990, Win7 x64, all drivers up to date, and i have to say that it only happens since the latest beta patch, and on RO2 final release (i hope NOT final actually). Any piece of clue to fix it, instead of this half-blooded windowed mode?
Thx

From what I understand of occlusion, it only renders what you can immediately see as opposed to everything in the map. The way the menu words it, higher occlusion hits performance. But I think the opposite is true.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

even if i do all those tips to get more FPS, i still only maxed 25 FPS, and average of 11 FPS

basic spec of my comp :
CPU AMD dual core 2.7 GHz
GPU : EVGA Nvidia GTX 460
Ram : 5GB
OS : Win7 64-bit

and the occlusion quality from normal to high changed nothing =/

Windows 7 64 bit, all current windows updates
i7 960 3.2 ghz
Geforce GTX 570 1.2gb EVGA
12 GB DDR 3 Ram
120 GB SSD

The first few ideas you mentioned added a few frames, but ever since the first few patches in beta too today. The game has gone from great to not so great.

Low to Ultra settings, damn near same fps in "stat FPS" to FRAPS. 30 - 40 barely, dips in to 20's. I have changed res to 1024 X 768, doesn't fix it either.

Apartments is the only map that I will get a stable framerate, I have Homefront... similar concept in huge multiplayer maps. 60 FPS vsync solid. Everything maxed out.

Memory leak? I tired increasing priority, didn't do anything as well.

This is exactly what i get too. From low to ultra ,uncheck-check this box.same damn fps and slow down.

GPU utilization never go above 60%.

I paid to access the beta,i had great fun even with the ****ty performance.but what is the point to play right now if the game will be bug-free in 3 months at half the cost?.I seriously dont see the point of paying higher for something that isnt ready.

Occlusion on high is supposed to be very low occlusion, the same system from pre-beta2, and normal is supposed to be the new high performance occlusion. But since release, it seems like the options are reversed.

I tried the whole shabang with 4096 to 2048. I turned off all the advanced option and on ultra, high and medium setting my FPS on every map were aprox 30-35, going down to 20-25 with a lot of details on the screen.

When I reverted the 4096 change to 2048 set all the advanced on and changed to High and I get 45-50 on average and it never goes below 35. In some places goes up to 70-80.

This is sooooo strange :p

I hope the developers will be able to patch and optimize this game so we can all enjoy it even more!

BTW I have:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
G.Skill 8GB PC3-10700 (667 MHz)
Radeon HD 6850
Kingston 64GB SSD

Do you have the box Ambient Occlusion checked? When I set it from normal to High,(with the Ambient Checkbox checked and not checked), my fps do not seem to drasticly change. Also when I change the occlusion quality from Normal to High in game, then go back to check my video settings, the slider remains in the "High" position, but still says normal. Does this happen to you guys? Could you check?

I also wanted to know if any of you guys got the Steam Overlay to go off and recieve more fps? When i turn it off in the settings I can still acces the steam cloud thing.

Last thing, lol. When depth of field is set to false i do receive more Fps but the game becomes alot darker. Any work around besides monitor contrast? The in-game contrast just makes all the screens white.

Let me know. :D
