I just heard the sounds of the game on http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/61858/Exclusive-In-House-Red-Orchestra-2-Early-Beta-Gameplay-Video

Some of them really sound awefull. I am going to do a realistic sound mod, where these ones get good ones. From MP40 I have the original, will put it in.

The sounds were recorded from the real ones on a professional level, no offense but i doubt you could do a better job, let alone without going hollywood on the sounds.

You'll need to create a server modification for that to work...you can't join games with a modified install.

And like Heady says, the weapons were recorded on a range, with the correct equipment.

What me really concerns is the following,

By weapon sound many people get later in life a tinitus.

And i tell you this, it isn`t a joke when you get it.

Google on it and you get awake by this it`s a real nightmare.

I have a little tinitus by too much sound on the workfloor.
So i am every day on the forum which people can send their messages.

I believe that's true Hans, all weapon sounds are said to have been recorded from the actual weapons.

That is true, but you would need to make it that if someone fires a gun next to your head or close (mosin nagant for example) you get instant tinitus that last some time. If you

I don't think RO2 will give us tinnitus.

Well, sounding better/cooler isn't the same as sounding real. It fires a pistol round, so it doesn't sound epic IRL. Judging from the times I've heard an MP40 shot, the in-game sounds are pretty spot on.

It doesn't happen to everyone, and some are genetically predisposed. Basically, turning the sound really loud to simulate actual gun fire is a terrible idea and can damage the eardrums.

I watched some mp40 firing clips on youtube and they do sound a bit different, however that's most likely due to the way sound is affected by the environment around you and perhaps the microphone quality.

For example, I kinda like this one German MP-40 submachinegun - YouTube more than the one in-game as it sounds mroe powerful, but that's probably just caused by some echo created by the valley he seems to be firing it in.

I am aware of this condition, there was a big campaign over here in the UK after a man recently killed himself after decades of having really bad tinitus.

You have my utmost respect for you being there for those who also suffer, I hope one day there can be a simple cure for what must be an incredibly difficult injury.

Well, even the 3 sequences in this video sound different. It's the crappy microphone on the camera.

You can tell the difference here in that video is the reverberation because he is outdoors, also depending on the camera's sound quality which might be poor.

I think the weapons in the game sound great, they certainly have more "oomph" to them than they had in RO:OST.

Sounds can be a very personal/subjective issue, primarily because no speakers no matter how high-quality can actually recreate being there.

Don't discourage people from creating custom content just because you're sure the vanilla content will meet your own subjective, personal standard. Otherwise we might as well all go play BF3 instead.

Without going way off topic, I have it more then a little
Imagine coming home from a concert and lying in your bed, the buzz you hear then is what I hear every hour of the day.

Somebody said you can't get it in RO2, one thing I would like to respond on that, Don't underestimate what a loud headset can do to your hearing

now back on topic, I can tell you that the sounds in RO2 are far more awesome then in RO1, I wouldn't change one single bit

The weapon sounds sound perfect to me. I've heard much much much worse sounds in games. Call of Duty 1 had some really terrible sounding ones that severely lacked treble which generally makes sounds feel 'sharper'.

Contrary to what people may think, in real life two weapons will never sound exactly the same... They may sound very similar but there are so many factors that affect how a weapon will sound... More than you could even think of. First of all is what type of amunition and caliber then there's a multitude of other things like local air pressure, density of the wood used in the stock, condition of the metal - including fractures, density, minor machining defects - also how it's welded, barrel friction, blowback action friction, gas pressure, reciever friction, density... Pretty much every aspect of how a gun is constructed and operates all individually have a small effect on how the gun sounds... That's not even factoring in how the immediate environment can effect the reverberation and distortion of the sound waves.
