It's a story from Pavlov's house IIRC. The Soviets had a gramophone in the basement and they would play records on it. The Germans could hear the music and occasionally shouted out requests. "Ivan, play Katyusha!"

The Soviets would play the music even though their commissars were a not very happy with them for doing so.

Their reason for playing the requests was simple...

...as long as they were playing music they would not get mortared.

It would be nice if the voice commands were localized in game (like they were in the mod) where you can only hear it if you're actually within range of the person.

A lot of the German units were from Saxony.

There were also a fair few Austrians in some of the units.
