Last night, pre-patch, I went up a level in machine gun success, only I hadn't touched an mg all night. This is the first false stat I have noticed in some weeks.
Tonight, post-patch, I wait a long time to get into the ONLY server with a decent ping for New York City that has more than 12 players in it. And the ONLY server on line with 64 players in it. It took RO I several years to reach such numbers.
On Fallen Fighters I am laying there waiting to cap Central Park, it hovers just a microbit away from completely capping and right when (I assume) it capped, I froze and crashed. I had been playing all of ten minutes.
I closed all other programs and ran that game boost thing which supposedly increased my gaming potential by 46%.
I went back in the game, got into the same map. I ran out the door of the spawn building, ran about ten years and was shot dead.
And the game crashed again.
I will not be going back.
Even with all its issues I have been enjoying playing this game. But there is so much that is starting to turn me off.
Thee is the arcade weaponry that allows people to snipe from a mile away with a submachine gun or that does not slow down a sprinter when you shoot them through the chest at close range, having to click the ready screen before you spawn rather than just spawning (I HATE missing spawns and having to wait a full cycle when I could have just spawned automatically), so many little things that never bothered me much, but has become more and more irritating and now back to crashes and false stats.
What a drag. No game with Red Orchestra in the title should need a realism mod. But this game certainly does. And the interface; the idea of squads is great, but without being able to call up the screen that flashes by showing who is in what squad and what ROLE they have, it will never be of any real use except in clan matches. Spawning on the SL is a great idea idea, there are other great ideas, but the irritants are starting to chafe.
And now I find the only servers left for Darkest Hour are tank servers and ROOst is pretty much gone too, one infantry server with like a dozen people on it.
Time to find another hobby.
