So, about those bullet ballistics.

Must be fair way up though if we can target the recon plane? I'm fairly sure I heard someone official say that was possible...

Can we actually destroy the Recon Plane? That would be awesome!!

Also talking about recon planes. What plane do the Russians use? I know the Germans have a Storch but I'm not very familar with Ruskie Aircraft.

At close range it isn't uncommon for a full power rifle bullet to go through three men.
To expand on that:
If our targets are each 20-25cm wide and our Battle Rifle (let's say 7.62x54R) bullet penetrates 60cm of ballistics gel, assuming the bullet does not strike bone, you could penetrate through 2 men completely and 1 half-way.

The first target hit would recieve some slight yawing effects and likely be incapacitated. The second target hit would suffer the bullet entering sideways, creating a very large entrance wound. It's likely then that within the second target the bullet would completely turn over, creating a (very interestingly) small exit wound. Upon entry of the third target, the bullet would be backwards, would fail to yaw, and it would only penetrate ~10cm of his torso. That will fail to reach vital organs at certain angles.

Here, I've added an illustration. The red line-range represent the distance at which the bullet could begin entering the second man and the yellow line-range represent where the bullet could begin entering the third. As you can see it's very likely that the third man could only be wounded, and perhaps not even be incapacitated.

This thread brought to me two questions:

- Are there ricohetes in RO2? If so, can they wound or even kill?

- What about tracer rounds? I've just realised I haven't seen them on any RO2 vid.

That's assuming the 3 men are touching skin to skin. 60cm of ballistic gel isn't the same thing a 3 x 20cm of gel / human body with space between. I would imagine a yawed round slapping against skin might enter strangely or even break up.

It's possible, and I theorized that too, and that is almost always the case with rounds such as 5.56mm. However one can not say for sure if the jacket is thick enough to prevent that on these Battle Rifle cartridges without thorough testing.

In any case the second guy is very likely dead, if the bullet hits sideways regardless of fragmentation, and the third guy will recieve a minor penetrating wound if it doesn't fragment, and perhaps bits of "bullet shrapnel" if it does.

Re-watch the episode. They proved that firing straight up is rarely lethal, but firing on a parabolic arc, is when it stays lethal.

Straight up it goes until its velocity zeroes out and then falls back down at whatever the terminal velocity of the slug is, which is always far less than the velocity of a fired slug. If you fire it in an arc, it can retain most of its velocity up and down, and kill.

Isn't that what I said? Straight up doesn't kill yes, but catching an angle from firing upwards, would still result in a kill if the extremely unlikely event that it catches someone.

I hope tracers dont look like Star Wars lasers in RO2. I also noticed that the flash from guns in daylight arent that bright in some RO2 videos but when they go in a dark room and shoot it lights ups the room. That. is. awesome.

The tracers of mg's would ricochet and I was wounded one time by such a bullet. So guess this would be in in RO2 too.

Or I was hit by nade shrapnel coincedentally and I thought it was the ricochet:rolleyes:
