Play station network down for months, players get 2 crappy games to make up for it.
MMORPGs are commonly down for 5-10 hours for weekly/monthly maintenance.

RO2 is down for 1-2 hours while they fix a unexpected crash. People go Bat S***

I guess the difference is mmo's say when they have downtime, and it is usually at times when very few people are online, not the first friday night after the launch.

We are rolling the patch back out. It appears that on some machines it causes a new issue.

Perhaps you ought to roll out patches to the original closed beta crew, and wait an hour before releasing it to the general public. File this one under lessons learned.

Don't worry Devs, you may have saved my marriage. I *have* to spend time away from Stalingrad now.. Into the arms of my lover, you drive me!

Keep up the work TWI, you'll get there.

Yeah there's a good reason for it, they shouldn't release patches so carelessly, an 18MB patch should not destroy the game for 99% of the players, that's just a terrible practice.

Went completely over your head I see. People are going insane because a newly released game had a momentary down time that they are already fixing.

Mistakes happen, TWI doesn't test the patch on a million different PCs to see if it works on all. 1 hour of downtime is nothing. Go watch a Show on Hulu.com while you wait, go for a walk, talk to your family.

This is absurd.

I downloaded it and it doesnt crash

For the vast majority that we can tell, it doesn't crash. But there is a large group of users that is is causing the crash on.

We are working to get the patch rolled out now while we look into it.

First of all, it doesnt work for me. I get the message that ro2 detected a problem and has to be closed upon start.

HOWEVER, and I hope that helps the developers, my brothers version does run without problems.

Background:
My brother installed the german version via steam, uninstalled it, and installed the english version after he switched his complete steamsettings to english. (He wanted the gory version for the price of reinstalling ALL of his steamgames) The update followed, he can play without problems.

I installed the english version from the beginning by changing the properties of ro2 on steam to english. The rest of my steamgames is still german. However, without me approving, Steam automatically "patched" my version to german again. I could play for the last two days (server browser was a problem for me and my brother) but when the small update hit, it was goodbye RO2 for me...no more able to start the game.

Please fix it asap.

"Vast majority" doesn't inculde ALL of my steam friends who play RO2 i guess.
