Can character models not look like they're pissed off all the time? Maybe sometimes, but sometimes they should look cool calm and collected, like if they're aiming a rifle, or look scared if their team is losing badly, and then maybe look like he's about to RELEASE YOUR RAGE if he's in a bayonet charge or smg at close quarters.

I say this because there will be a 1 life only mode, so that means watching people more often, and I remember in CoD how everyone looks they're CONSTANTLY ANGRY.

Is soldiers not looking pissed off all the time implemented in HoS?

I think this is a good idea. Also a new one.

more than 1 face expression for the avatars could be nice. They are not show window dummys! :(
So maybe 2 or 3 different faces (maybe just random generated) would add a lot of immersion for the game.

Characters in RO:OST had different facial expressions as far as I recall, and I remember a small teaser showing a guy firing his SMG and watching his facial expression change to a grimace.
It's a nice detail to have, but expanding on seems pretty pointless.

Take a look at some combat footage/photos of soldiers during the war (and most of the documentaries showing combat/movement etc I own) - soldiers usually have blank expressions on their faces, or are simply concentrating and showing zero emotion.

I don't know if facial expressions are in HoS or not, and I'm not saying everyone should act all overexagerated, but what I'm saying in short is that I don't like doll faces in games.

This is actually a problem for alot of games, I'm not picking on TWI.

It sounds cool, and if it could be implemented would be great, but I don't know how practical it would be from a developer stand point, and also it may take forever to do.

I agree, I like this idea, but it's just another something they would have to do. I think it would look great though.

ah, the influence of hollywood is strong. actors are expressive like that because they want to manufacture drama in the absence of real drama-that is, they're in a staged battlefield.

sheepdip is right, it's war, not shakespearean theater.

I'm not saying soldiers should be like ,, or :troll:, what I'm saying is that I don't want them to be doll faced.

But, as it happens, I just remembered that pic where the German soldier is screaming as he's dying, that one commander guy looks pissed off, and some of the soldiers look expressionless, and the one soldier looks like he's kind of smiling.

in a fight or flight response, where adrenalin is cycling through your system, you often have a blank expression on your face, as mentioned. when you're concentrated on something, you might have storm of thought going through your mind, but if anyone were to observe you, they'd see someone who is outwardly calm, perhaps even dull if you're the type to have your mouth agape when you're concentrated on something.

so yes, the expressive rage filled moment of heroism is a hollywood invention. people don't actually behave like that in combat.

Doesn't RO already have this a little bit - when a rifleman raises his ironsights he closes one eye. This is about as much variation as is necessary really, I mean when do you ever pay attention to an enemies facial expression anyway?
