Hey, i havnt been active on this forum for a looooooong time. Looking through these photos i have a few nitpicks on the models of the Red Army Soldiers.
The Water bottle was worn at the rear of the belt, not on the side as is on your model.
Mosin Nagant Pouches: You're using Post war, the ones with Fabric and leather reinforcements, these were introduced very very very late war if not post war and should defiantly not be used in Stalingrad. This is the kind you should be looking to reproduce in the game http://warrelics.eu/forum/military_...h-ww2-postwar-mosin-nagant-ammo-pouch-001.jpg
Sharovari (Breeches): They seem to skinny at the thigh, wartime ones are very baggy. Tend to make your arse look big.
Collar Tabs: Magenta Red were used for parade usually. In Battle they tended to wear subdued green variations.
After April 1941 the Dress Regulation ordered subdued Collar Tags to Worn, however at least Comrade Major General Rokossovsky ( I believe) Ordered that his Command would still use Coloured Insignia, ( It is Noted in His Accounts of the GPW, a rather dry book if I remember correctly).

I understand this may not be in the interests of some of the people who want gameplay rather than accurate portrayal of uniforms and would completely understand if the developers would rather focus on the gameplay, but i would rather be happy knowing i had at least informed the developers.

Thanks

I'm always in favor of necessary tweaks, but there is a bit of notoriety that follows suggestions like "incorrect ammo pouch materials" and such. So, in before the complaints that this is too nitpicky. I know TWI tries to keep their games as accurate as possible.

Stuff like this makes you love the community, you gotta have the uniform and accessories right if you want a realistic game.... :)

Well with the Russian collar tabs I wouldn't mind a mix of both the colored and the subdued. Something tells me that the Soviets would have more pressing concerns than the colors of their collars. :)

I don't know a lot about the Russian uniforms or how the Soviet military organized that sort of thing, but I feel that for the most part what I am seeing from Tripwire (in terms of cut and color, for example) seems very well done.

Good call on the pouches though.

I understand well the model of ammo pouches in early soviet history, but the ones in HoS look just like them to me. I don't see any fabric reinforcement. They look 100% like the ones you are mentioning..? Also, I understand that you are talking regulations, but you see photographs all the time, in every country's case, that field gear was NOT worn exactly where it was supposed to be at all times. You see Russian canteens on the side, American canteens on the front, it's too scattered to make a call like that.

On another note. I'd love to see black leg wraps scattered around, they were very popular amongst the ranks, and were not exclusively issued to any specific branch. You can see them in a lot of photographs.

Wow, somebody pointing out uniform issues on the Soviet Side. This is a first! Cool.

Ever since taking up reenacting the Red Army 1939-46 and Soviet Army 46-92 i have gathered A lot of knowledge on the uniforms and equipment. I don't want to see an immaculate Wehrmacht and a inaccurate Red Army. I would like to clear up the belief that the Red Army was a rag tag bunch, it was very much disciplined (reinforced with punches from your starshina) in terms of uniform.

Something tells me that the Soviets would have more pressing concerns than the colors of their collars.
Something tells me that Frontoviks would rather not have Bright red collar tabs which would give away their position very easily. An example is on the early war helmets which had nice red stars painted on them, nice targets for fascist sharpshooters. Frontoviks as soon as they got the chance covered these in dirt.
Subdued collar tabs were issued en-masse before the treacherous fascist invasion against USSR, unless you find me some photos clearly showing Magenta collar tabs being used in Stalingrad.

Iyosha,

I agree on the tight appearance of some of the Soviet uniforms (we've mentioned this quite a bit already). The recent German figure model(s) seem to convey a better effect of fabric folds and blousing. Perhaps the difference comes from the "weave effect" that the Soviet uniform textures use which appears to "tear" (exaggerate and/or elongate at the model's bending points).

It's been mentioned that the self-shadowing effects are not fully implemented yet in-game also (as seen in the lack of helmet-face shading in some screenshots).

Continued discussion about the game uniforms and model figures is welcomed.

(welcome back to the forum from one WW2 reenactor to another) :)

Actually, to be completely honest, we were aware of the collar tabs - given a chance, the barracks-style colored ones would be removed and replaced with the "subdued" style. It is one of those instances where art overtook perfection - they simply look better :)

Come on, downvoting that post is a bit unnecessary. What's wrong with a developer replying to feedback? I see a lot of that 'downvoting for the sake of downvoting' these days, even if it's a non-stupid post. Do you guys have a grudge against some forum users, or something?

(Waiting for downvotes :D)

Barracks style for relaxed realism, and subdued for realism mode please? :)

Continued discussion about the game uniforms and model figures is welcome.

Speaking of which the trousers aren't 'baggified' properly above gaiters or boots, even though that's caused by lack of realistic trouser physics than authencity.
