and why do i think you'll still keep coming back like a scorned girlfriend and keep making these prank calls. do like your mother said. move on with life. :)

Yup, if people like him truly despise TWI and RO2 that much, why keep coming back to the OFFICIAL RO2 FORUMS?!

I don't play the game anymore for many reasons. But I guess that some players wanted a better ROOST and got something completly different. Some of us just long for a "true" successor to ROOST and therefore like to complain that this did not happen (in our view).

Although I must say that people in general seem to choose realstic mode over classic which I would have never predicted.

your moms house!
this game has little chance of a comeback because change came too slow and hardcore fans like me continue to be ignored over new short term players with arcadish wishes.

just more elitist drivel from the peanut gallery! Waaa waa waa they ignored me and im hardcore...waa waa waa

i didn't see that coming either. i was fully prepared to join in whatever was most popular and try to make it better. not complain about it. the way i see it, both modes are better than ost. only action is worse.

I would rather blowtorch my nipples off than play Action Mode.
i'd light the torch.
oh yeah, about the topic. anyone notice how much the player numbers have spiked since the weekend? there were about 600 maore players on when i loged in this a.m. i hope we can hang onto them.

remember to be nice and helpful to the noobs while killing them!

I don't see low player counts at all. Full server nightly in Australia and full servers daily in America/Europe, this game plays just fine at really high pings, I've joined Russian servers by accident and not realised until the commander gave out an order...

In all honesty, the bad launch really did a lot to diminish the potential community this game had. People picked it up after it came out and were so disgusted by their initial impression, with the bad balancing and horrible optimization that this game had when it was initially released that even when those issues were patched later, people didn't bother coming back.

I think there is potential for recovery and I also think that if the mod community really starts churning out some good stuff on the same level as Darkest Hour, people will come.

I couldnt care less, they lost me as a player allready, just here to let them know how bad they are messing up their own legacy. Not much left to say for me anyway. Thanks TWI for Roost but no thanks to this failed ro2 experiment. You took my money, now take my voice. RO2 to roost is like ofp 2 to ofp.

Then leave

yeah you are right it just is so annoying when i go to server browser i see only 500-1000 players :(

I don't know why folks continue to stew over this. The total number of players online is one thing, but community support is another. My assumption is that what most people want is to play this game on a well-stocked sever. No problem there. I can give you a list of them that are in an uproar from 6pm until well into the next morning. Almost every day.
You either want to play the game or you don't. But if you do, you'll have
little trouble finding a server with enough folks to give you a good match.

that's it, in a nutshell. if you ARE into the game, you will find a server you like, with the maps/features you like, and you will show up often enough to support it. you will then find the same group of like-minded players that you get to be mates with. i find myself checking in with servers and joining just because i know the guys that are there allready thinking the same thing. all this "numbers are down" and "the game is dead crap" is what i expect to hear from my 12 year old, mw3 , ps3 playing child.
not saying the op is in that group. it seems he was genuinely confused about the player count. it is what it is. 800-1200 daily players. probably 700 of which are faithful and will log on everytime they can, because they know this is the best there is.

I feel like I was the only one who immensely enjoyed the initial release of RO2... bugs or not, the gameplay was (and still is) extremely enjoyable.

Agreed, but even die-hards have to agree that numbers are down -- despite the best efforts of the community. You really can't argue that IMO -- and I LOVE this game.

At least we have a nice community and people who make content for the game with our SDK. This is something really big for games right now. I prefer this than playing BF3 with dumb people.

How many servers can you play simultanously on? I can only play on one at a time but that might be because I am getting older. ;) It works well and there are enough players almost at any given time.

Other than that RO2 despite some problems is still the best FPS out there for me and my prediction is that Classic (maybe after some minor tweaks) will be the mode that survives the longest because it provides the best long term fun maybe just because the progression system does not matter and people that don't care about that have a different motivation than the ones we see in other modern FPS.
Fun, team play and good sportsmanlike competition. :IS2:

the problems is holding on to new players
they get upset because they die over and over and do not understand what is going on
the run to the cap zone dying like fly's
because that what point system tells them to do
i sent so much time trying to tell people the game is not all about the cap zones
you need to learn the tactics for each map and how to change your tactics depending on what the other team is doing
In the end most just quit
they see their scores are ok but they die alot get few kills and lose all the time
but what the scoring system tells them to do

It's a company that doesn't have a lot of marketing, so word of mouth is probably the best thing you can do. Along with the new updates coming out (community and developer alike), winter sales, etc, it might see a fair bit of a boost.

What matters most is retention though.
I think the bad state of the gameplay, broken promises and lack of attention to what the RO1 players wanted is cause of the low player count of RO2.

Not the low amount of marketing.
A good game will sell itself. Look to former TWI games.

100 % Agree!! Its hard to find a nice server to play on. 1 Year after Release we havent got any new content (Maps, Vehicles, Weapons, Tanks). All the promised things are missing.
