nice update

sub-division modelling is kinda like "meshsmooth" in 3dsmax, as for maya (as I assume you are using) I think its the "Smooth" tool you use, Its been years since I used maya (maya 3.0 I think it was), and the modelling tools of it where awfull for my taste lol, *hugs 3dsmax* :p.

On-topic

The last update looks detailed, if you're going to texture it in the future its better to rather trying to model it in a "singel object" as much as possible, as of my expirience. Because if you have alot of objects in the scene, they will need texture and that takes up much time to texture a map for every singel object, but if its just modelling then you're fine...

Yeah, to be honest I hadn't thought as far as texturing. First I wanted to see if I could actually complete a full, high poly model like this. Next one, I'll try to texture it as well (though my next one will probably be a tank).

Thanks for the comments.

I think it looks pretty cool in that blue. It looks like a shade from the official Empire paint palette.

Although you could try it in a Hello Kitty texture.

Another update. The engine and the wing are essentially finished.

I'm not happy with the wing, but that's the point of doing this. The shape was difficult, curving in 3 dimensions. It's probably too much to expect to do that well without a blueprint. If anyone has any pointers, I'm all ears. :)

Here's a pic of the rear with wing and engine detail.

I'm not up on Star Wars canon, sorry.

I'm using an old model kit for Darth Vaders Tie as a reference on this one. I bought it for my son but he never put it together. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
