Pardon the partially hooorrible picture, it just demonstrates the idea better:

wielding.jpg

Though it would be mostly a cosmetic change, it would stop "WHO STOLE MY AA-12?" -type of questions in-game. On the other hand, the player models could become quite cluttered and really silly looking. And all that stuff...

The main point is, I'd like to hear opinions from you people. What do you think?

Well it would be cool, however my only major concern is what happens for support players? I mean even as a regular perk you can carry alot of weapons.

On say a medic you could have: -

- Knife (0)
- Pistol (0)
- Grenades (1)
- Mp7 (3)
- Katana (3)
- Deagle (4)
- Daul Deagle (0)
- Machete (3)
- Pipe Bomb (1)

Ignoring the crappy load out, thats 9 weapons you would have to somehow attach to a player model. Sure you could strip a few out like the knife, pistol, pipe bomb and nades, but even still that gives 5 weapons to squash together.

Support has 24kg to play with and its not uncommon for them to take say dual deagles, Shotgun, AA12 and pipes. That at least makes 4 weapons to squeeze on, assuming they are using a sensible load out.

Only way this could work is if there was a slot based system like say GoW, or CSS, or CoD. e.g. 2 primary weapons, 1 side arm, knife and nades/pipes... but might be rather unpopular.

I support this idea. :IS2: The picture is great and shows us how it could look!

The main problem is when there's different characters. Take DJ Scully and Dr Glover for a starter. The DJ has a big backpack and the Doctor has a gas tank. I think that the weapons will have to be put on in a different way, depending on the character.

And like Jester said, there will have to be a lot of different places to put different weapons. E.g. you'll need one spot for a 9mm and a totally different spot for a Handcannon.

Also, there's a lot of rifle-like weapons and there will be dodgy situations where a player is carrying multiple large weapons. As a blunt example, imagine if a support spec took a shotgun, a LAR for a late-joiner and an M14 that he's going to give back to his friend during trader-time and the support is currently holding a 9mm. He will have 3 large guns strapped to his back.

This is a very awkward situation to come accross, but it could be solved somehow. :)

Support perk is one of the problems, yes. Even though a sensible player wouldn't use that kind of an loadout. But what about the demo perk?

It doesn't look half bad, does it?

EDIT: the problem with different character models is a valid point, too. Maybe Scully would put the weapons in the backpack? o_O

But what about the demo perk?

I suggest that you see only one pipebomb on his body, until he runs out completely. Same with grenades, I guess. Support perk would have 11  (and perhaps the demo. but I don't know, I never play demo.)

Maybe Scully would put the weapons in the backpack? o_O

Well yes, he would, but wouldn't that defeat the point of being able to see people's equipment in the first place?

Just have 2 'slots' which the most powerful weapon will take place.

Pistol holster and a weapon slot on the characters back.

So if you were carrying a hunting shotgun and normal shotgun but had the pistol drawn out, then the hunting shotgun will take the back slot and the normal shotgun wont be visible, but if you had the HS out, then the normal shotun will take place on the back.

I thought it in a way that you could see the weapons' shoulder stocks partially from the backpack, like if it was open.

I've always thought the support perk's ability to carry more stuff has always been partially a redundant feature.

Also, you can see in the 1st picture that the dude in the middle is wielding his dual eagles under his armpits... dunno, I googled for "dual holster" and it gave me pics like that.

EDIT: also I can't see a problem with the player having both SG and HS on his back.

Retrox, here's an idea:

Take this specific character model and fit EVERY weapon on him.

Remember, it's not as if we'd expect the character to look like that in-game and we can just laugh at your idea because players will look silly when overloaded with weapons.

I mean this because then you can see where weapons can easily fit according to different combinations and stuff, if you get what I mean. :p

It's not as if the player will have all the weapons on him all the time. He could be only carrying 3 weapons, and we'll only ever see 3 attached to him. :)

Errrrr well I think I got what you meant, but I don't bother putting in EVERY weapon. Here are the places I think you could put weapons, but I'm not a gun-expert. Especially not sure if anyone holsters a pistol on a leg like this.

seeing it visually actually points out how rediculous it is for a demo to carry 8 pipebombs, 2 grenade launchers, armour, a knife, a 9mm and 10 (?) additional grenades.........

Whats wrong with unsensible loadouts:

Knife (0)
11 Grenades (0)
9mm pistol (0)
welder (0)
syringe (0)
katana (3)
m79 (4)
machete (3)
pipebomb (1)
dual handcannons (4)
mp7 (3)
m14 (5)

Maybe someone give us a picture of what that would look like.
