What i'd like to know is why people are trolling us. Will the trolls please come forward and be accountable for their actions?

Now i've been knocked down from a hard-earned 2 blocks to a standard 1 block. Why can't i keep what i've spent nearly a year and 1000 posts on getting fairly?

You have too much free time on your hands if you want to go after people who gave you negative rep.

so along those lines, if you're posting on an online forum for a video game, you probably have too much free time on your hands :p

I wish I were at a station in life where my rep on an fps shooter forums board were of concern to me.

I'm just saying.....

well you reached a station in your life where you are insulting somebody on an fps shooter forums board by trying to make fun of them for being concerned about those forums having abusive dicks on them....... I'm just saying....:p

point for both of you guys: don't come into this thread and try to insult me for doing the same exact thing you're doing.....which is being an active member on this site. to try and make fun of somebody that's posting in a forum when you're posting in a forum is a bit hypocritical is it not?

i just happen to care a little more than most people that there are people that actually do have way too much time on their hands as they are just coming in here to troll, whereas the majority of us are here to contribute something meaningful to the games and to the community. ;)

There's a difference between being active on an online forum and caring about little rep boxes and messages that say someone doesn't like your post. To raise awareness on this "issue" doesn't contribute to the forum but rather incites they very people you wish to extinguish. You know as well as I that there was a time before reputation "mattered", and it's not difficult to pretend that the system doesn't even exist

I voted Yes but on the other hand, I love scrolling over BlackLabel's rep and seeing he has a "reputation close to that of a KT" :D

It's true though, a lot of forums only have option for giving positive rep.

The system is useless anyway. You get more rep points for taking five seconds to disrupt a topic with a stupid IS2 reference than for investing weeks into developing content for the games! That should give you a hint as to how much a positive rep point is worth...
Besides, for everyone who gets "trolled" :)rolleyes:) with a couple of negative reps we have others who circle-jerk their way to IS2-dom by exchanging reps between them and their friends. So even IF you had a full green bar people wouldn't look up to you but think you're one of those.

Just stop it already.

If we get rid of the cheap entertainment of seeing someone repped to hell for complaining about negative rep points we might as well scrap the whole system, because aside from this mild amusement it doesn't add anything worthwhile to this place.

Except for IS2 and KT rep. That MUST be factored into the equation, it entertains me greatly.

To be honest I didn't even know that likes/dislikes translated into a rep system until this thread. Now that I do I have no idea why it matters at all. If your post sucks I'll determine that after I read it, not because you have bad forum rep.

This. and :

This.

Also, as i mentioned in the other cry thread...the whole thing is useless...:D

the world is full of "abusive dicks"...here its more like "making fun of the useuall suspects". I know you like to overexegerate issues to make "the voice of the opressed" and "brutally trolled so they have to cry themself into sleep" heared..but besides that the feature, and i repeat myself the 100x time here, is useless.

BlackLabel, while i didn't find it odd that you waltzed into the thread seeing it as yet another opportunity to take personal jabs at me, it is a bit odd that you voted "yes".......perhaps you were just confused by the question :p

sure the system may just seem "useless" to you murphy, but it exists nonetheless. so long as a system is in place, then those who implimented it are accountable for maintaining it's legitimacy. hence my earlier comparision made in another thread that the "like/dislike" feature is just as much of a fail as adding the m14EBR to KF was.......perhaps it's a good idea at its root, but when actually tested, obvious flaws are discovered. in this case, the enhanced "rep" system is heavily exploitable on both ends of the spectrum. some people try to get their butt buddies "close to the is2" while others have fun making people "infamous".

however there's a stark difference between something like BL's situation and an abusive situation with people getting trolling. BL willingly encouraged people to spam him with "dislikes" just because he wanted some attention to be the first person to see how low he could get. that was all good and fun and most all people got a laugh out of it. but in the case of multiple inviduals (not just myself) getting trolling for no reason other than some people wanting to be douches, that's just unacceptable. i was not the first to bring up this issue and it wasn't until i experienced it first hand that i really took notice. it's the same common example of trolling that you can see throughout the interwebs although this is through annonimous asshatery as opposed to publicly viewable attacks.

the pattern is the same....one or two people start giving people "dislikes" in their posts and eventually others start following in suit just to take part in the "joke". it sometimes doesn't even matter what the topic is or who is making the post. take this thread for example.....somebody thought it'd be "funny" to dislike the first post because they knew they would evoke an emotional response from me (which is the basic definition of trolling). low and behold 3 days later and 20 or so people jumped on the asshat train. then look at people like the three moderators that stated that they voted "yes"; they then get blasted with dislikes simply because they actually took the issue semi-seriously.

it's a cancerous trend that needs to stop. make fun of me bringing it up if you want, but how much do you think i care about rep considering i've sacraficed my once "glorious" yellow rep just to make a point? you can say whatever you want about "taking it too seriously" but if you don't take it seriously, then why are you posting that you don't take it seriously? would that not be taking it seriously as you've got no purpose in claiming that you don't care or that others shouldn't care? ;)

when it comes down to it the issue is black and white in that the system is extremely exploitable and as a result these boards have seen mutliple people getting trolled by ****tards that should be finding better things to do with their time. no matter how much some of you try, you cannot manuever around that core issue as it is indisputable reality.

oh he understood alright - he wants badboy exclusivity.

take this thread for example.....somebody thought it'd be "funny" to dislike the first post because they knew they would evoke an emotional response from me (which is the basic definition of trolling)..

well you've nailed it there, you're too emotional.
if you want to stop trolling, don't contribute your end.

'cos doing so is like standing up during a foodfight with a serious look on your face and declaring 'stop throwing these pies at once!!'
