Oi! And dem shotties need to be a bit stronger than the '5 foot then vaporize' pellets we see in CoD and BF.
IF we were to add shotguns, they (like any weapon that we do) would be done properly, I promise you that.
Effective range of the shotgun with standard buckshot is limited to about 30–40 meters with a full stock (depending on the sights on the gun)
if there are shotguns, it needs to be a 40 yard max gun (for reliable kills). no sniping with it. why? because it would just be too easy with a spread of BB's
oh here's what wiki says:
okay let me get this straight mustard gas, bouncing bettys (which was a shotgun in a grenade essentially.) and killing millions of jews. but shotguns were considered inhumane. WTF!!!war makes no ****ing sense.

So basically, you want to artificially limit the abilities of a weapon?
That's now how realism works.
Also, still waiting for any word on shotguns.![]()
limit the abilities? no, I want them modeled realistically. 80 yards is way far for a kill with a shotgun. Not to say luck doesn't happen, but...no, just no.
The war in the Pacific was a dirty affair. While in Western Europe the battles stayed generally structured, the Pacific fights were often tooth and nail. This was where weapons like the flame thrower and shotgun came into play. If this mod strives towards realism, which it does, it must include this vital piece of the Pacific Theatre. Beyond implementing this weapon, it must do so in a way which reflects the level of detail and realism that the developers want.
The counter point to realism is balance. Game mechanics shut down when a weapon becomes overpowered, but at the same time, certain weapons were overpowered. A machinegun is certainly more powerful than a pistol, but the MG shouldnt be nerfed in the sake of balance. Go for realism, balance will be acheived with class limit and careful in game tactics.
At the end of the day, shotguns must be included, but it will lie on the developers of the mod to make them as realistic as possible.
Japan is going to have thief work cut out for them in CQB situations.
That's where the joy of game design comes in. It's up to the team to create a balanced playing field using some other advantage, since firepower obviously is not the Japanese strong point.
From what I understand, "slamfire" (it's not actually slamfire, that's something else) wasn't used by actual soldiers as there was almost no benefit to it. You can't hit the broad side of a barn while doing it and just waste a lot of ammo.
