Short Medium and Long

Out of curiosity, does a short game only contain the zeds for those amount of waves, medium as well? Or is it condensed? Thanks.

Tbh I don't know why 99% games are played Long (maybe due to achievements). Waves 2 and 3 can be combined together (spawn Husks and Sirens @ wave 2), wave 4 is same as 3, so can be removed, and wave 8 is most boring in the game. So medium game (7 waves) seems most logical to me.

P.S. I'm always playing Long games too :)

I kind of agree.

I think for SuI and HoE that the more powerfull zeds should appear sooner, after all, this is supposed to be the difficult levels for players that want a challenge.

Stalkers, Sirens and more Gorefasts on wave 1.
Everything under FP on wave 2 and 3.
From wave 4 on, everything.

As it is now, waves 1-5 are boring and easy, 6, 7 and 8 present no chalenge at all, 9-10 at best are moderately challenging, especially for a team of seasoned players.

HoE should be exactly that, Hell on Earth.

I know that there are mutators out there, but thats not the point. I'm talking about the regular game, as not everyone enjoys Mutated servers for one reason or another.

I used to only play medium length games when all my friends got the game back when KF retail was released, seemed like long was just too long, and short got tough too quickly. Was really disappointed when I find out long games are the most played, but got used to it after a thousand hours.

A good server on suicidal/medium all the time would be awesome.

You actually have a good point there. HoE can still be too easy depending on the map, this would surely spice things up a little. And since everyone spawns with weapons on level 6 scrakes on wave 2 shouldnt be too much of a problem. In fact there could easilly be one on the first wave too lol.

That gives me an idea, maybe I will try to set up custom waves for my HoE server to make it more of a challenge.

Please don't forget about significant amount of pub-server players, who doesn't know how the game should be played, and get wiped every time on wave 6 or 7. They have seen Patriarch only on screenshots, or when they were playing on Beginner. Bringing big zeds too early will ruin clot-killing fun for such players ;)
Another aspect - getting wiped on later waves now is more painful, because it means another half an hour spending on early waves again. Shortening game too much will decrease suffering effect for getting wiped - team just can restart the game and get into the action really fast.
But I must accept that Long game is too damn long. Especially wave 8, that is even less challenging than wave 7.

So I'm suggesting to give achievements for completing Medium game too, and alter it to this:
Wave 1: Same as it is now + Stalkers and Crawlers on Sui/HoE (because level 5 and 6 players spawn with initial weapons).
Wave 2: Introducing both Husks and Sirens
Wave 3 should start with single Scrake spawn (like Long game's wave 7 starts with FP), so team can test its Scrake-killing abilities. It is good for pub games, where team must ensure that designed Scrake killers (SS, Zerker, Demo with LAW etc.) know how to do their job. A few more Scrakes during the wave.
Wave 4 should start with single FP spawn (wave 7 in Long) for the same purposes described above, and a lot of Scrakes during the wave.
Wave 5: Single Fleshpounds spawns together with another big zeds (Sirens, Husks, Scrakes).
Wave 6: Double Fleshpound spawn.
Wave 7: Tripple Fleshpound spawn should be a rule for Sui/HoE, not the rare exception. And possibility to get spawn of 4 Fleshpounds in the group on HoE.
