Shield instead of weapon

iI have since times what it considered to come with the patch weapons really only new maps added how about the non-zombies with weapons but with a protective shield me off last had me considering it git a shield like the SWAT units with the one attacks to ward off all kinds, however, you are with the shield very inflexible with the sign you kan then ground to beat the zombies and for 2 / 3 seconds stun could be the whole thing with a new perk class in connection the with an upcoming class with the schilld zurenen the zombies to-ground, they can throw and stunning short small recordable one is team member attacked by eight zombies and has no might dan chance the new perk class on the rebellious zurenen and zombies ground throw is saved team member and who is with the protective shield a blocked transition could zombies deter the position to overrun and the protective shield is also resistant against flesh pounds but you can not kan shooting or other the sign you kan also with 9 or 10 allocation blocks so you have a hand gun it is just something different as shoot

Not a bad idea would add a new deth to defence
Just give the shild like 150hp or let fleshpounds smack it out of your hads

RIOT SHIELD:

Ironically I was going to make a post about adding a riot shield to the medic perk since the medic is the defensive class in the game. The way it would work is by holding it in front of you and blocking oncoming enemies with a higher damage absorption as you do with your body armor (allowing a medic to be more effective with it) while having it's own HP like the body armor. So basically it would be a second more effective body armor for only enemies in front of you.

It would be useful if you want to distract zombies or Fleshpounds while somebody needs time to reload or kite.

It would be useful if you want to distract zombies or Fleshpounds while somebody needs time to reload or kite.

Fleshpounds and the like pose no more threat than a Husk most of the time. It seems that when I play, the Husk gets many more hits in compared to the Fleshpounds and Scrakes none.
They ought'a remove the Scrakes' stunlock and and have him drag you in like in the Mod.

The shield was a big part of gameplay, since it blocked throwables, explosives, and bullets and could be used as melee. As you used it, it became harder to see through. It never felt overpowered because it didn't block stuff behind you and enemies actively flanked you and prevented you from shooting when your shield was raised.

For the record, this was the game that Rocksteady made JUST BEFORE another game you may have heard of... Arkham Asylum... :cool:

The easiest way to balance out an impervious tactical shield is to let Zed's special attacks be able to stun you for 2 or 3 seconds before you can reactivate your shield. Also, major speed debuff when shield is up.

Clot - Shield becomes unusable when grabbed.
Gorefast - When charging, the first swing will be entirely blocked, second swing will be blocked but knock your shield out of the way.
Stalkers/Crawlers - Can't stun you, but can obviously flank you while you're shielding and do damage.
Siren - Obviously the blocking won't stop your ears from hurting like all get-out.
Bloat - Decreases burn time, does not damage shield.
Scrake - The slash chainsaw will be blocked, but you will be stunned. The basic drill attack will stun you after 3 seconds of continuous blocking.
Fleshpound - First attack will always be blocked but result in stunning of your shield.
Patriarch - Bullets can be blocked, melee can be blocked with stunning. Rockets, if blocked, will kill you :p

Often when I play medic, my team mates get caught off guard from the fleshpound or scrake appearing having to reload their weapons. The husk does get way more hits in compared to the others though, maybe the shield could block that too?

Not a massive fan of a Riot Shield idea msyelf... but Yomammasis' model is suck. If it were added though riot shield would have to weigh 11Kg at least.

Pistol or nothing far as I'm concerned. :)

Yeah when you get swarmed by clots they should be able to snatch the shield out of your hands just by sheer force of number! Or maybe the FP's could smack you around the screen but you dont take damage

My own personal hell
A shield has never looked like a good weapon to add for a number of reasons:

1. How is it implemented as a weapon?
Currently to use more than one weapon at a time [sort of] the two weapons are merged into one dual-weapon. To do this with a shield, either it would only be usable by itself or be programmed as a weapon for each weapon you can use it with. Even in this case, it is likely that you would make it work with one and only one weapon otherwise it would be really hard to distinguish which weapon is being tethered to the shield. There are some other ways to implement this but they are all really messy.

2.What stops players from stockpiling shields?
Even if they are breakable, they would have to have some sort of stun feature so that you could not just hold all the specs back.

3.Why do you need a shield?
Most specs do not have a long range projectile attack, so why bother with a riot shield? At best you are tanking but in most cases you would likely be better off simply killing the specs instead. That is unless you are playing suicidal in which case tanking is usually a very bad idea.

tr;dl the shield would be tough to implement and have limited use

That game was really good, and implemented the shield well so it wasn't overpowered.
