I picked up a Kar98k Scoped once, and started shooting away with it. Eventually it ran out of ammo. I realized I still had my original Kar98k, but that one still had full ammo. The ammo isn't shared.

Picking up a weapon only adds ammo for that very same weapon. In RO1 the ammo was a separate pickup, and you could pick up a pouch of "Kar98 ammo" which would be used for the G41, K98 scoped and K98.

The same should be in place for the SVT-40, where you can reload with mosin nagant stripper clips.

Should Tripwire ever add more weapons (MP-41 .. Mosin variants like the m38 and m44, etc) .. all these weapons will use their own ammunition. This really should be changed.

If possible, it'd be great to pick up drum magazines for the PPSh-41 if he used those, in addition to the stick magazines he might already have.

For the scoped bolt rifles it makes sense, but you run into some realism issues when suggesting players use ammo from different storage types in the same guns.

A soldier isn't going to plop down in a battlefield and pry out some 7.62x54r out of SVT mags so he can jam them into his Nagant. Nor is he going to take 9mm from a MP40 to stuff it in some P38 mags. Or vice versa.

Basically I'm more in agreement with weapons that use single round and stripper clip reloads exclusively.

agree with stripper clips to svt-40 but not the othe way around. and between scoped and non scoped versions of rifles/variants of the same bolt (m38,m44 etc).

However some smg needed modifications in order to use drum clips. so stick and drum smg clips, no.

That's not what I'm saying here. You see the Mosin is being loaded by the same stripper clips the SVT-40 rifleman uses to fill his partially empty SVT-40 mags. He clearly has them. At the very least an elite rifleman could pick up the ammo from a normal, mosin, rifleman.

I'm not talking about taking individual rounds out of magazines or something. That's just silly.

I'm only talking about the PPSh-41 here. Soldiers were assigned a drum and stick mags. What other weapon can you think of that uses drums and stick mags and would fit on the Eastern front? What are these "some smg" that needed modifications?

Right now if you pick up a PPSh-41 with stick mags and your own PPSh-41 uses drums, all those sticks would instantly be converted into drums.

I'm basically asking for a similar system to RO:Ostfront

I personally wish that instead of automatically getting all the ammo for every gun you pick up (Which makes NO sense), that you 1: When you pick up a weapon, you only get what ammo is currently in it (which makes the most sense) and 2: If you want more ammo they make it an animation/action to loot the ammo from the body, since the MP40 doesn't have 5 magazines somehow Velcro'd to it the moment you die.

I guess that is Tripwire's way to streamline / make the game more mainstream by removing the separate ammo present in RO1. It could be quite finnicky to pick up a weapon and a separate ammo pouch .. But I preferred it.
