I was thinking maybe this is caused by anisotropic filtering or similar? Any tech gurus to help me out ?
Also, bump

I noticed this too couple days ago. I don't know if shadows were like that earlier or has something changed.

Lighting and shadow settings are set to High.

This is a known issue. Although it has been fixed since release, it requires a map update to roll out the changes. It will be fixed as map updates are made in subsequent patches.

I thought that had to do with the shadow settings. The higher the setting, the farther distance that the shadow stays accurate.

That is how I tested it.

You are correct. As Putz said, the shadow settings change the distance at which the static shadows kick in, however the issue I was referring to was the blocky looking static shadows. The transition from static to dynamic will still be there on high and ultra shadow settings, and of course, the static shadows will never look as good as the dynamic ones, but the fix should make the static shadows of certain objects (such as trees) not look as hideous :p

This one is entirely justified to sit on. Many people would flip out at a 2.6gb download just to tweak shadows. It makes sense to wait until you have a real reason to update the maps.

last i heard, they had problems that were more important to fix.
p.s. this is a bug, right? it should be in the bug report section, so as not to interfere with people having real problems.
