Hi

I'm new to this so sorry if this has already been asked.

I have set up a dedicated server. Currently it is passworded so only me and my friends can use it. I would like to set it public, but have it so that if the server is full we can still join and kick an existing player. (I would put a warning message about it as the start up message).

Is this possible. Do I just set people up as admins? What I don't understand is that you have to log in as an admin once you've joined the game not before so how would the server know to let me in?

Thanks :)

I'd be seriously annoyed if that happened midway in a game, however if it reserved an unused spot would be OK, have a look into serverext

I was going to suggest this until I thought of a 6 slot server...pointless only allowing for example 4 players and 2 open for your clan only. It all depends on how many slots you have in total...

If you add a password to a server does it kick everyone out? I could leave the server public except for when I need it, then add a password so new players can't join?

Going to have to explain yourself a little more. If you put a password on, the server will need a restart for the new settings to kick in. This will remove all players from the current game till it's back online.

I didn't realise you had to restart the server to add or remove the password.

Thanks for all your help. I'm sure I'll have new noob questions soon.

You can close this thread if needed.

You can set the password in webadmin or such then change map, or let the map finish and it wont kick the people currently on until the map is over. It still doesnt help when your looking for an on off at anytime solution.
