With all the fighting going on after the recent screenshots, I'd just like to pose an suggestion.

It would be nice to have a server option or even setting like Relaxed and Realistic realism (if realistic doesn't already offer this, we still don't know the full details).

The idea is that if the server option is set, that all classes and loadouts are somewhat set on what would best show the average weapon loadout in the portrayed conflict. Not only in weapon types available but similarly in amounts and configuration.

It already seems possible by what TWI has said about serveroptions, but it would be nice for those that prefer the type of gameplay. If TWI offers a preset option to easily find and filter servers that run on realistic loadouts.

-------------

Not everybody is the same and people need to understand that, some people want to have a new Cod as Cod has abandoned the PC community. Some want the most realistic thing. There is no need to hate TWI for offering something you don't like if you don't have to use it, and with your entire community can play what you prefer.

The key point is, some communities are so inherently split already in preferences, that allowing them to be seperated by a serversetting won't split those communities more than they are already. (of course nobody wants too many settings gamemodes ala UT3)

I actually think that trying to merge realism unit players and arcade pubbers, would result to a degeneration for both camps. I think it's better if both camps can play an experience directly tailored to their preferences. And that is exactly why I love that there is relaxed and realistic realism.

So lets hold our hands and dance around the is2 :IS2:

There is no need to assume that in this case it wouldn't still be the mappers that can decide how class amounts per map differ. With realistic class amounts there are still loads of possible variations (Heck we don't even know if the class amounts are realistic or not so this bit is a what if scenario anyway).

Without modifying the maps, something like a mutator would likely be able to change settings on a per map setting (unless RO2 is very different from UT3 in this aspect). This suggestion is primarily about making it easy to host, find and play on a server with realistic class amounts and loadouts.

But even when leaving out changing the class amounts per map (again we don't even know if amounts are unrealistic or not), a big part of this would be the loadouts per class. As was stated in the competition cast servers will be able to set weapons to a certain level for custom servers, it would simply be nice if twi would make an option that simply picks the weapon level that would best fit the average soldier.

Making 'different' maps?
Although I realize that would take some extra HDD space so not ideal.

So instead of RO_Apartments you also have RR_Apartments with a more relaxed (Mkb42, MP40-II, MG42 yeah) loadout.

But I guess TWI is not eagerly waiting for these kinds of suggestions:rolleyes:

You are mixing up classes/roles and class ranks. Class ranks can be set by admins, the classes/roles are set by the mapper.

From the competition document it stated that you could modify stuff as for instance the amount of grenades and disallow certain weapons together with picking the class ranks. In regards to changes to classes that is exactly what I'm aiming for in this suggestion.

Like for instance disabling the Mkb, Avt, mp40-II, and setting the ppsh level to the default ppsh type2, and putting all those things in a single server setting that can be filtered by. So that realism units can easily find a server running at those settings. Without having to look between all the varying custom servers.

And in regards to available roles on a server, again it is unknown whether that is unrealistic or not. But at the least in the document there is a feature to unlock all weaponry and classes.

Actin please stay kind, getting agressive won't get you anywhere ^^ (and agressiveness is the reason that picture thread resulted in a mess).

In general it should be possible to do all changes with a mutator including per map based changes, unless RO2 is very different to UT3/RO1 in that aspect. I have no doubt that the realism community will likely make some mutators to change the game and gameplay slightly like they did in the past.

But as the steam server browser doesn't allow you to filter for mutators afaik (at least it doesn't for RO and KF). So my suggestion was asking TWI to provide it for the community with the ability to filter out servers based on it. Basically an option to play with and against the most common configuration. And allow people to rank up their character (even though they might not be able to utilize the things they unlock).

that document (although just a draft) did mention something about disabling weapons....i think it might have only been certain weapons like maybe hero weapons.
