Server is legit! Yes that's right, when non-steam client trying to connect, server crash. I am still trying to find the way, for server to block or reject these kind of players.

Sooo pretty much this is the problem the whole time and not those crash scripts? hm?

Couldn't someone just script in a check system that checks if that person has a steam ID number (which I imagine that a person who joins through non-steam methods or through a cracked version would not have one at all)? Like something that would kick a person or automatically rejects a person if the person does not have a Steam ID number?

I don't think its cracked players crashing it, had three different crashes with different ips and have nothing to do with the steamids what so ever, just plain Open My level: -Ip address: port- and boom server crashes. So would it hurt to patch those files i posted about a while ago? Or do some kind of security patch of some sort?

Old servers 1034 reject all non-steam clients. Servers with new patch 1035 give access for non-steam players, this is the cause of server crash.

What we have:
1. crash on map change (bug of patch 1034)
2. crash , when non-steam client trying to connect (bug of patch 1035)

We can only wait for new bugfix from Tripwire .

ummm.... i've had this crash problem since June Of last year......... So I really doubt its non steam clients causing the crashes...

I've went ahead and installed a cracked version of KF. I joined all 3 of my servers fine without crashing it at all.

I'm still positive it is a string of attacks. My GSP started to capture my 2 days worth of traffic and I just let him know when does it crash, so he can look that part of the captured up.

We found out the guy's IP that's trying to crash our server constantly and my GSP somehow replicated his Packet Script and tried it out on a Empty server and it would crash it every time. My GSP and I aren't going to share anymore then as of this right now as we're trying to contact TWI and send these data to them privately.

While they are at it, TWI might as well find a way to increase the virtual memory and attempt to make the game become multi-threaded (if that's even possible to do within a short period of time)

if twi is willing to spend money on an updated build of ut2004 that would be great. To be honest, i don't even think an updated build of ut2004 is that expensive anymore... :p

But it would bring quite a lot of players to the game and would probably allow servers to host more than the default 6.

Just heard back today from my GSP and here's what he said.

TWI acknowledged the exploit output I sent them, and they say that they are analyzing it.
