So, one thing I've noticed (and really bugs me) is how weird the server browser finds servers. I guess there's a main server, and all dedi's "talk" to it, and when you search for servers,it gives a list. Only then, you ping those servers. This is fine when you live in USA, where I guess most players live. But, if you live abroad, you'll have to wait a LONG time 'till the servers in your country appears, because the main server lists those with lower ping relative to it beforehand.

Quite complicated, yes.

My suggestion is to remove this main server from the equation. Not sure how it's done, and wouldn't make much difference for those living in the USA, but it would improve the players living outside US.

The pings are sent and received by your computer to the server that is listed - so servers shown with a low ping are closer to you. The master server just gives you the list, it has nothing to do with the latency statistics shown.

But the first servers I get on my server browser list have 200+ ms. And I have to wait at least half a minute for those under 50ms.

I see - so you'd need to be able to prioritise the server by country, and then have those return top of the list when the server information is retrieved. I'm not sure how Steam / KF retrieves the list so I don't know how difficult that would be to change.

Alternatively, as a workaround, you can get the server list, add all the low ping servers to your favourites, and then use the favourites instead of the internet server list. That would essentially do what you're asking for, but you'd have to update it every so often manually.

Yes it's a pain but if you don't want to play the game because of balance issues and such why would you bother playing once the server browser was fixed if the other issues were not? But I too would like to see the browser modified once other issues have been ironed out.

i actually don't have that many complaints once i'm actually in a game lol

i've been using the steam server browser lately just because it pings faster and doesn't move my selection down as it updates
