Server Browser Filters - RIP Custom Servers

I wanted to change 1-2 low importance settings on one of our Ranked Realism servers... But then I started wondering... Hmm if I do so, we're not going to be Realism anymore, we'll be Custom. So I opened the game browser, and started filtering the servers based on the ranking and game modes. Here's the results:

Unranked (all game modes): 7
Ranked Custom: 19
Ranked Classic: 28
Ranked Realism: 65
Ranked Action: 29

At that time, ~312 players were online. Only 8 were playing on custom servers. Only 1 of the servers listed is in the top-40 in GameTracker. Just like the "unranked" page kills the unranked servers, I fear that the custom filter is killing the custom servers.

If you use 99% of the realism settings, but put 3 compass instead of 2 on the server (for example), you're dead, because it seems that many people will filter out your server. I don't think that people that selects a filter for "Realism" would really care about 3 compass instead of 2... But they probably want the zoom, weapon handling, stamina and loadout.

A correction is required. Filters are not appropriate as they are now, because they are too "radical". I suggest that when you click the "Filters" Button, a popup allows you to choose something like:

-Weapon Handling: Classic/Realism/Action/Don't Care
-Weapon Loadout: Classic/Realism/Action/Don't Care
-Zoom: Yes/No/Don't Care
-And so on for the most important parameters.

The current filter is inappropriate, and hinders customization of the servers. If any other admin has been hesitating to customize any option for that reason, please post!

I'm inferring handling is keeping your level-up stat bonuses (eg 9% melee strength, 10% ironsight times, etc) and loadout is the ability to use your belt mag on the mg or the nagant silencer, or the PEM scope hint hint

Well these would be options, so you can define a filter for servers that have realism weapon handling and loadout for example, without requiring all the other settings.

Or are you asking what's the difference between classic and realism weapon handling/loadout?

Thor, definately agreed! Players need more transparency in the browser, so changing settings does not push a server into obscurity.

Even better, instead of having to choose one (or all) game modes and filter all the others, there should be a list with all the gamemodes where you tick off the ones you want to filter.

I would like having my serverbrowser only filter out action servers, and having realism/classic/custom servers showing, but that is unfortunately not possible at the moment. So I have to choose the "all"-game modes option with the hassle of having to manually filter out action servers (thankfully there are less of them every week it seems) or individual modes, which is usually realism for me, and of course then I will miss out on the custom servers.

i don't use the filters unless i really only want to play one mode. otherwise, it just depends on the map and number of players on it. even ping doesn't bother me. (though i usually find a server worth playing on, before it gets high)
people filtering too much out, are really limiting themselves.

I think the Ranked/Unranked tabs should be done away with. Let ranked/unranked be filter options (show all by default). Then put All/Action/Realism/Classic as tabs.

Or make the custom filter like this....

Game Mode: Action, Realism, Classic, All
Custom: Yes, No, All ("all" should be the default of course)
