Yeah, it was a good one and I enjoyed it. Just hoping the series doesn't go down some soap opera'ish path like so many drama series end up doing.

The Series is back on and damn that new Episode is awesome! Especcially the ending. Finally Rick did something appropriate.

Probably the first and last time that I'll ever plus you on anything, but hot damn you're right.

Although I do gotta say, the skinny guy there, he needs a better agent or something, because he seems to get utter **** roles that wind up with him as a dead bad guy.

Pretty much the only thing that keeps me watching this is that it has zombies in it. Although this latest episode was decent, the whole series is just filled with bad dialogue, plot holes and mediocre acting at best.

I guess The Wire has spoiled me.

I liked the ending of the new episode. It was pretty tense, and I like the premise it sets.
It seems they will be confronted with a hostile group trying to take over their turf, which is the nice thing about the zombie apocalypse lol.
The zombies themselves arent really all that harmful unless incountered in large hordes but it's the people that **** you over in the end.
(example: the raider scene in the original Dawn of the Dead. They could have held out for so long in that mall if those bikers didnt open up the entrances to muck about)

The comic series (actually "graphic novel" is more correct, but...) when collected are six thick books. The first one that I just finished goes on to a bit longer than the situation in this last episode.

Seems to me they keep adding stuff to draw it out, and while some of it is cool, like the scene in the bar, the search for the girl is not in the comic at all, and was dragged on for way too long.

So if they are going to finish the series like the comic, I reckon it'll be 9-10 seasons. We'll probably all be tired of zombies by then :p

As always, Man is his own worst enemy...

Another great episode. I really like where this series is going. Finally I like Rick, he's really kind of had a wake-up call and now makes the best decisions(although I would've let the kid die). Shane one the other hand has become a ****ing psychopath and needs to be dealt with. The blond is a dumb ***** for feeling sympathy for Shane. But I guess she's just one of those types who like the badboys.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I love this show, hell it's zombies and I do like the fact that it's kept close to the graphic novels, besides the odd story line i.e. the girl.

If you think about it, we are quite a resourceful race. look at the bombings for instance in WWII. It didn't take long for them to make an air raid siren and people to make, make-shift shelters to survive.
But if you add the human element into the zombie apocalypse scenario, then we are more dangerous than the zombies themselves.
Which is what I think the books tried to capture and as above, so did Romero.

No matter what we do to survive, there will always be someone out there, that wants what we have and will do anything to take it.

I also totally agree with what someone else said, about the title referring to the survivors and not the zombies themselves.

Is it just me or are the writers just trying to create needless drama between the characters? I mean, people should be able to sit down and ****ing talk about the issues they are dealing with. When someone is acting like a dick, the group should be able to get together and discuss it. The decisions a lot of the characters make in every episode just don't make any sense at all and feel as if they are just written in to make relations between characters more tense.

There's too much talking behind each others backs, too much gossip, too much needless soap opera drama. And while there are some decent story arcs (like the new one with the people who attacked them), they are few and far between.

No, its not just you and that is my biggest fear for the series, that it turns into a soap opera with the occasional dead person.

I think that there has been many an occasion where both Rick and Shane have expressed their opinions on the matter at hand, it's simply that their opinions differ wildly and both are absolutely convinced they are in the right. When that happens, it's hard to talk anybody out of it, especially if they are headstrong.
And ofcourse there is the issue of Shane's history with Lori. Personally, if I had been Rick, I wouldnt have been able to deal with that, let alone to sit down and discuss things.
Then there is stress, people on both sides pulling for the leader's approval, etc.

I also liked the new episode.
It seems they are finally headed in a direction with a bit more going on.
I especially liked the part in town when the zombies came shuffling in when they heard the firefight.
I do hope that Shane gets shot. He's a bastard and he deserves it.

Most of their talks have come down to Rick telling Shane to stop doing something and Shane storming out the door after yelling a bit. That's not what I mean when I say people should be able to sit down and talk about their issues.

It's not just Rick and Shane in the group, there are many more people. It's pretty clear that many feel Shane has become an issue. So instead of whispering about it behind each others backs, how about they just have a sit down, with Shane included, and talk it out.

It's a damn crisis situation. There's no time or place for this drama and petty rivalries.

And ofcourse there is the issue of Shane's history with Lori. Personally, if I had been Rick, I wouldnt have been able to deal with that, let alone to sit down and discuss things.
Why? They both thought Rick was dead. What's so wrong with your girlfriend finding comfort and support with one of your close friends in times of crisis?

Actually, the fact that Rick has not reacted in a dramatic way because of this is one of the few decisions that actually make sense to me.

Then there is stress, people on both sides pulling for the leader's approval, etc.
Sure, if you look hard enough, you can justify all the actions taken by each of the characters.

The thing is, for me, it doesn't make for good TV. I don't want to watch a soap opera. I want to watch a post apocalyptic survival horror series.

Fact is they are trying to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible, so they are force feeding us these soap opera story arcs, because that's what some market researcher told them will get the ratings up.

Yeah so you don't like it, that means they dumbed it down to appeal wider audiences. So the same ignorance from gaming elitists finally arrived at TV series as well.

Are you arguing that viewer ratings are important for a TV show? Are you arguing that in order to gain higher average ratings, some shows try to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible, and in order to do that incorporate story arcs and characters which are hand crafted to draw in certain viewer groups, which otherwise might not have been interested in the show?
So the same ignorance from gaming elitists finally arrived at TV series as well.
I have no idea what "ignorance" you are talking about.

Do you mean the people who criticize games and developers for going after dollars and sales numbers, instead of trying to produce new and innovative games?

I completely agree with this, as I don't think 'Lost' would have had the fan base, if it was all sci-fi/time travel stuff, the female population would have tuned out, early in the first season.

It is a shame that it has to be like that, to get bums on seats but I would prefer pure gore, horror and terror but that wouldn't appeal to everyone.
