Now this may sound silly, but I think it would be a nifty feature: damaging oneself by running into another player's bayo.

Say you have your bayo fixed and your getting back into a corner and the other player just runs right straigt up to your face, through your gun an pops you on the head with his pistol. I have on many ocassions asked myself: "IRL wouldnt he have just gotten my bayo through his gut?"

This may no longer be a problem given that actions are interubptable but I still think it would be funny to see some guys try and run through someones bayo and get killed instead of seeing the gun poke through him and him get a pistol whip kill...

Sure, friendly fire could be a problem but if you get a bayo in the bum from the guy behind you your gonna run along a tad faster.

It could be an interesting feature if some sort of collision system was introduced when you are close to a friendly. Still, it could get very annoyeing pretty fast.

But it could elimitate the need for a bayo button. You just wave your gun around in free-aim and it stabs them. :)

lol not for me, then again I dont get many bayo kills. hmmm...

I like the idea, but what about those times where everyone spawns in a clump and puts their bayos on? Now imagine the only way out of spawn is a single doorway (unlikely). That doorway stuckage would turn into an accidental TK BONANZA.

Gonna get ALOT of bayo TKs with that, at least till people learn to stay the hell away from teamates. Youd also(I THINK) need something like polygon-based collision detection, so the game engine would know if and when the bayo struck someone. Im against it myself, thinking it would cause more problems than it would solve.

Yea, it seems a little weird that sprinting full speed into an enemy with your gun pointed to him witht he bayo doesn't harm though, then again that might create a bit of a sticky situation with your teammates, gettin close, etc.

Perhaps solved with an auto "point away" from team mates? So when you point your gun at a team mate it pullts it back toward your body across your chest (like when you sprint).

Not a bad idea...

That collision system is a bad idea. How would you stab someone without being stabbed on your own if it was introduced?
You have to run up to him and punch/stab him. And right when you do you are dead too.

To inflict any real damage with a bayonet through another soldiers uniform you would need a fair bit of force. I feel that when you're just holding the rifle even if someone did bump into they wouldn't die. To make the other person die you would need to thrust the bayonet into them, which is done with the melee action which shows the soldier actually thrusting the blade forward with some force. I don't see a problem with the current system at all.

When you are sprinting/running toward someone you think it looks realistic to run straight into someone (With your bayo pointed right at them) and not doin anything?

Standing still, yes you'd need to thrust. But while in a "charge?" I think the speed of your running negates the fact you'd need to "thrust" like you're talking about.

They've said theres a bayonet charge mode, so i think that running around and blundering a bayonet into someone to cause damage is unnessecary. Because you have to actually be trying to jam a bayonet into someone i reckon, just bumping into them could hurt them or pok out an eye if you were unlucky but is not something that should be modeled.

Otherwise you couldent attack another player youd just impale yourself running at their unready bayonet

loosingg an eye or hearing due to explosions, shrapnel or bayo-accidents is another beautiful idea, hehe

the whole thing is a game problem, in real life it would have been very rare for a soldier to have his bayonet on in a trench or streets w/e and then suddenly his teammates come running from the opposite direction while somehow not looking and with some real speed gore themselves on the other soldiers bayonet, and it would have been even rarer if the soldier hadnt seen him coming and not sidestepped/changed gun direction and he must have been gripping the rifle really hard so when the collison took place it didnt get knocked out of his hands.

it just didnt really happen.

bayo's should deal damage when somebody runs into you. However when you basically just hit them softly it shouldnt do damage. Stab's would remain better as they would still be one hit kills.
A problem with the current bayo system is that sometimes you seem to miss while you actually should have killed them.
In general i dont have allot of problems with stabbing. I stab fairly often and thus know what the strength's and weaknesses are.

In real life, when jogging or sprinting fast enough that an impact would cause a bayonet to penetrate someone's uniform and skin, I highly doubt that soldiers angled their weapons directly infront of them if they had a bayonet on it and it would leave the rifle pointing at a friendly.
