I downloaded the SDK to try it out and when it was time to launch it, it didn't work. I press launch then it's starts for like 2-3 secs then just close. I don't even see the menu or whatever. I went in the files to find the .exe and when I start it, it just says Unable to start the program error 0xc000007b or something like that. I looked on the internet to find an answer and looks like nobody ever fixed that error. I runned a registery fix, added all the needed stuff for UDK. Downloaded the original UDK and it gives me the same error. Frontend works but I can't do anything from that. Is there any solution to this? It's really annoying.

Well I don't know but it's really annoying, I repared Windows 7 with the original disk, took me the whole night and it's still not working. Next step is saving all my data and removing all stuff, reinstalling windows and if it still do that error, I guess it comes frmo TWI.

same deal...

same deal...

SDK Launches for me, but as soon as I scroll through materials in Content Browser, it doesn't respond/lags my comp to a screeching halt.

I know I don't have the best CPU for modding, I usually mod on my computer at work (Intel Quad), so I'm not sure if it's my processor or the same problem you all are having...

My Specs:

AMD Phenom II x4 955BE
Win7 (64)
8GB Ram

Xendance

Have you tried verifying the cache of RO 2 and the SDK?
Next step is to try reinstalling the redistributables that came with the game. They can be found in:
Steam\steamapps\common\red orchestra 2\Binaries\windows

Run the UE3Redist.exe.

I know people often recommend doing this, but honestly - it's EXTREME :) There are so few problems that actually require repair or re-installation, it's more likely that upon re-installation you did something you hadn't done before with the install, and didn't realise it - and hey presto your problem is gone. Re-installing and even repairing a windows install, should be your absolute last-ditch definitely-tried-everything-already solution. I run IT for a 50-employee company, and I can honestly tell you that re-installing or repairing alone will NOT fix 9/10 problems you encounter with Windows machines - regardless of how confident people are that a re-install was the only option, and that it was the exact thing that fixed their problem in the end :)

I do appreciate you couldn't find another answer - but you didn't need to go through the hassle of OS repair, and you really shouldn't be thinking about re-install either :)

I got that too, very annoying given the startup time. I basically dragged the scrollbar halfway down the list, it updated once, then just proceeded to hammer my hard drives into next week :) Had to power off - couldn't even access Task Manager. I appreciate a strong machine is required, but I hadn't even opened a map at that point - something is definitely not right with the default config of the Unreal Editor in this SDK. I'm sure I did a similar thing with the beta release, and had no crashes - and that may even have been after loading a map.

I can think of only one last thing - removing the SDK completely from Steam, and re-installing. I know verifying the cache should remove the need to do this, but I also can't think of any more ideas I'm afraid.

Since you mentioned that the generic UDK also causes you problems, it might be worth scanning their Wiki and foums to see if others have reported the problem. I get the feeling TWI won't be able to help much with this, given it's nature.

Who sais they wont fix it in the upcoming patch? Since they just released the official SDK means they will be looking for probs' n' bugs and try to fix them.
Btw. Why not personally mail RammJaeger or something, demanding a fix ;)

What I mean by "it's nature" - is the fact that Zombie gets the same error with the generic UDK editor from Epic :) In other words, the problem is between Epic's editor and Zombie's system, not the RO2 SDK and Zombies system :) If the base product itself doesn't work on Zombie's system, that isn't TWI's responsibility.

Yeah I've looked on Epic forum and a lot of people get this error. No fix in sight yet but I guess I'm gonna save all my stuff, remove all and reinstall windows. I have to do it anyway, UDK or not my computer is full of stuff that I don't need anymore. If it still doesn't work then I saw somewhere it could be a memory card that doesn't work well.

I guess that could be a problem - UDK does use a large chunk of memory when it loads up. If you want to test that specifically, bag this software:

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

It'll allow you to test your memory, by booting the machine from a CD/floppy. You should find some instructions on the site too :) While this won't "fix" your problem, it will highlight faulty memory DIMMs.

When I last ran the sdk, my comp froze. I was able to get task manager up in the window... It was using upwards of 6 gigs of RAM and climbing.
