I have noticed that small ArmA AI or "performance boost" mods pretty much just offer placebo fixes.

That's not correct. I notice clearly difference in AI between normal public and my clan's server. However don't know about "performance boost" mods, I have never needed those, even on my 4,5 years old PC.

"Performance boost mods" such as the dynamic view-distance tool DO work.

Less talk, more pics. The Witcher 2 looks gorgeus AND the more you play it, the better it gets to boot.

What about gameplay? the first one bored me to death with the "hunt 50 dogs and bring me their skins" quests :p

See The Witcher 2 thread, so far (and I'm not very far in, I don't think) - there are a few quests of that nature, but a lot of the monster contracts have a little more depth to them.

Like:
Destroy the burrows of said creature and kill them
Or:
Find out why so many of creature x is around (oh look a nest & some queens TASTE MY SILVER!!!)

I found the key to not get my army completely destroyed against the Dwarfs in a conventional battle...

Spoiler!

Problem, Dwarfs?

Edit: Some nice pics driving the last Orcs out of Mordor (Yes, this campaign became one of those in which you end up at war with everybody at the same time)

Spoiler!

Is that SoC? Despite CoP being the best game out of the box, I am having a hard time playing it through on my second attempt. I'll play for a few hours then stop for a few months.

On the other hand I have played SoC through 4 times.

I will try CS with a mod sometime.

REALLY liking your TATW shots Fedorov. Elephants > Dwarves I guess :D
(though it does seem a bit unbalanced there lol)

Well, Mumakil are twice as big for the Dwarves =P

But is not really unbalance, I was just lucky they they didn't bring crossbowmen or catapults (like in my previous post, you can count 28 dwarven catapults there), also, the Mumakil have to be trained in the desert and can't embark in ships, so it takes forever to bring them to the north-northeast.

Eriador will probably never see the Mumakil, they are not worth the effort. They Blitzkrieg me with a lot of army stacks at the same time to several cities, but after the first battle, they proved to be the most disappointing thing since the may 21 apocalypse. Poor units with poor morale.

Here are some screens from that first battle, I'm sorry I didn't capture the outcome, but it was so fast that I didn't expect it.

Spoiler!

PS: I think the visuals of this game haven't aged at all, it still looks great.

Operation Chainbreaker: Phase 6 [Campaign finale]

Operation Chainbreaker: Phase 6 [Campaign finale]

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand a new video! :)

Last mission of the Operation Chainbreaker campaign.

Mission: to arrest Kardal al Sharif, AKA Jackpot (pic), a corrupt CEO of Shnell oil industries who finances the Takiban and Takistani Army. One of the most wanted men of Takistan.

During Phase 5 of Chainbreaker TDNL managed to capture one of Jackpot's SUVs. In it was a laptop that contained a lead to his location, the southern airbase, the last major Takistani stronghold. He had plans to flee the country along with a big group of Takistani soldiers. The team were to lay an ambush on his escape route near the border and return him to British-owned FOB Sharpe alive.

I played Kardal al Sharif, with the AI under my control (~30 men). It was pretty nerve-wracking to sit in the convoy, being driven down the escape route, and then hearing the team open up on my bodyguards. Bullet cracks all around me. At one point in the video you'll see me. Pretty cool to see it happen all over again from the other perspective.

So how did the mission / campaign end? Just watch. :) (Again, everything is in Dutch, but you'll get the idea.)

Fail?

Watch this as our incredible tactical gaming community tackles all the odds with superior discipline to rescue a British petrol contractor, only to meet the utter failure in the end. Go to 11:00 to skip the boring parts and for the utter schadenfreude.

Yes I did give the wrong wrong code in the end
