Been playing one of my favourites again, Lock-On with Flaming Cliffs with SIM-MOD A-10A model and dxdll trick for simulated HDR.

I like the Lock-on games but I find the missions get more & more unrealistic as you get through the game.

Yeah, on PC.

I agree, single player missions are not that interesting. Multiplayer aspect is awesome though. Single player is going to change considerably with the release of DCS Ka-52 Black Shark by the way.

The modding community is quite large, it's always been large starting from the release. I suggest taking a look here:

Also is a joystick really necessary with this game? I dont normally play flight sims cos I hate having the joystick making the place look (even) more untidy lol

You'd be suprised how well cover like that works to camouflage you just long enough to stay alive.

and whats with the useless supposed 'death cam'. It just shows a screen-shot of the guy AFTER he takes you out

Well I think it's ok(not really needed but I don't have a problem with it either), except for snipers(because that doesn't make so much sense because then basically the sniper's cover gets blown everytime).
