I just started playing RtCW again. The levels don't take too long so you can play it in small bits.
I was amazed by how great the game still looks. Granted, it isn't too cramped ith details, but everything looks clean and slick and the characters still look very, very good even in direct competition with recent games.
Here is a shot of a the mighty foot. That alarm trigger had to face the lower end of it.
And here is the lower level of the gondola station. The whole first levels remind me of "Where Eagles Dare" and the fact that there is indeed a gondola is just the icing on the cake.
What I especially like about RtCW is that it is a completely nonsensical shooter, but it never pretends to be anything else!
No real ww2 black'n'white footage as intros, no levels that are supposedly dramatized, actionized "real" battles, no cheesy diary entries, ...
Just you being characterized as the bad-*** one-man army dude you are instead of playing as the poor private, lost in a war while you are still a one-man army! Guns that don't strive to be historically correct and if your arsenal is to be spiced up with a tesla gun, so be it! English speaking nazis with a funny accent, zombies with swastikas on their shields (which deflect bullets btw.), mutants and cyborgs, as well as SS latex babes (no comment, really...) all wrapped up in a nice, great looking fast paced game.
Makes for one happy Murphy.
I'll post a few more shots later.
