The elder Bush was far from a dictator... I don't really get WTF you're talking about. He was actually a pretty decent president, aside from stopping the tanks at the Iraq border instead of finishing Saddam at a better time.

The best option would have been to back the Iraqi troops who were all for overthrowing Saddam after the Gulf War.
