RS Russians vs Americans

Some guys on Facepunch expressed interest in a Cold War type mod. Now there's an interesting thought.
It'll certainly be original as opposed to Americans vs Germans which has been done in literally every game ever.

What do you guys think? Yes? No?

We know literally nothing about RS2 except the fact that it exists.

It'll be years before it's actually released, we should just forget about it for now.

Well, this instantly made me think of Call of Duty Black Ops which is Cold War and features saint Americans versus devil Russians.

If we however decided to go for a "semi alternate timeline" such as WWII in 1945 never stopped as Western Allied forces and Soviet forces tear each other up over Europe, this also would only work if some American scientist would sabotage the Manhattan project, otherwise it is already clear that the USSR loses due nuclear bombing. However this could indeed be something as I can not remember any game or even movie which portrayed this kind of conflict.

This would be a good one for RO2/RS. However if RS2 truly goes 64-bit it might be better to do this for RS2 and try to port over models and such.

Also the campaign map (IF there is one) we will have a truly huge map to fight for as it covers Normandy to Moscow. Sicily to Norway.

Another proposal is that sometime in the 1960 Cold War gets hot and you'd have NATO vs Warsaw Pact, which would feature a special stand-off NVA vs Bundeswehr. Again we need to think of a good back story that vanquishes nukes so there may be conventional slaughter.

Nukes need to be absent in both ideas as otherwise all nuclear powers just bombard each other. Just like if NATO and BRISC go to war today.

Before the U.S. entered the war, the Soviets were considered a bigger threat than Germany. IMO, Atomic bombs would have only been used against Soviet production away from the front lines. However, Soviet air force had already been allowed to build in '45 so this would have been very difficult to achieve.


In this "alternate timeline", Americans liberating eastern European countries not part of Russia before the war would be a plausible scenario.
